I made a choice and on the 15th...IM FREE OF NORCO

Hi everyone! Im so glad I found this forum. I have been reading the posts for over 2 months...and learned alot from all of you wonderful people. My history goes like this.

I have been on Norco or basically any kind of Hydro I can get from my doctor shopping. I know I know I know...BAD idea. I kinda got caught up one time...but it was swept under the rug thank god...and I just found 2 other doctors. Yes, the addiction is that bad. I have, at my worst....been up to 20  10/325mg a DAY. I finally came clean with my hubby who was serving overseas about how bad the addiction really is...and he has been soooo supportive of me. I decided to do the tapering route to get off these things...and he controls my pills and gives me my dose for the day first thing in the morning. I was at 11 pills for the last 4 days...now today was the start of my 10 pills for the next 3 more days. BUT...heres the thing. I am switching to Suboxone and have my first appt on the 15th. I decided that would be a better route for me since im SUPER scared of not having them in my life and being sick one day when the taper is over. Its really scary for me, though Im sooo tired of being tired if that makes any sense. Im sick of living my life wondering when my pills are gonna run out, am I gonna have enough to get me through my vacations...ect.

So Im really excited to know that I will be FREE of this demon that has controlled my life for 2 years now. Some people say you will feel "normal" when your off them...well, I cant understand that concept right now, cuz I feel normal now. I dont take them to get :high" cuz I only take like 3 or 4 at a time, and after 2 years of abusing them...that dont even come close to making me buzzed. I only take them to maintain me from getting sick. Does that make sense??
I mean, if high means you cook and clean, well then ok. lol. =D

But I posted earlier and Id like to say thanks for the 2 responces I got...You all are wonderful peeps, and I dont know what I would do without this site. I will be on here letting you all know my progress...and for your support. Can anyone give me insight on Suboxone experiences?? I hear good things...but ya never know. I dont want to stay on that either for years...basically, I dont want to jump from the fryin pan into the fire. I hope Im making the right choice.

Hope to hear from you all soon!!

you have made the right decision, from my point of view.  but i think you should have a plan in  place.  are you doing short term detox?  or are you going to do long term maintenance?  also suboxone does work, i can attest to that, but it really should be used as a tool, and not alone.  you should have a plan, stick to it and make sure the plan includes some therapy, counseling or meetings, whichever you prefer.  suboxone will give you the time while feeling normal to make all the necessary changes, work on yourself and any core issues you may have that led you to addiction in the first place. this is the time to do this while you are feeling normal and up to it...eventually you will have to taper off the sub, and when done under a doctors care and low and slow you SHOULD only experience mild withdrawals.  but you need to gain the knowledge and strength now so you are able to learn to live you life clean after your off the sub...aftercare is a very important step to staying clean...
good luck to you and if you have any questions let me know or send me a private message...
good luck!!!

Does anyone know what someone can expect after only taking Hydrocodone, about 10 a day for 2 weeks or so. Will they get very sick or just kinda uncomfortable and "out of it." Will it be noticeable to others?
