Oxycontin addidction

I have been taking 2 30mgs oxys a day for about 3 months.  I want to stop because they are taking over my life and i am becoming more addicted to them.  I am now snorting them.  Can anybody tell me what is the best way to come off them?  I am on day 2 cold turkey but i dont know if i can do it.  I own my own business and can't take time off.  Should i taper off or just do cold turkey?  Also will i ever feel normal or happy again and how long will it take? Please help.

Hi~  It's hard to say how long your withdrawal will last. Everyone is so different. I'd say inside of two weeks. But,your dose was small and length of use very short so it should
be no time before you're over the withdrawal.  The opiate takes 72 hours to be out of your body. Keep drinking water and juices to flush flush  flush !!!

The good feelings take a bit longer. You have to work at that. There's happiness that comes with being clean and over the addiction. You need to get that dopamine back up.
Our brains forget to produce it so it needs a push.  B vitamins help and exercise is the biggie here.

Mellie gave you great advice. Just hang on...day 3 may be the peak of withdrawal and it's better everday after that.

Good luck and keep posting~You can do this !!

Check out the Thomas recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol under the health pages.  It seems like so many people on here have got relief by doing them.  Also, Imodium for the diarrhea helps a lot.  I've also read that NyQuil is good to help some of the symptoms, like the restless legs.  There's also a product called Restless Legs by Hylands.  It's very small but Walgreens carries it and probably Walmart.

The people that have gone through this also say exercise and hot soaks in the tub with Epsom salts work wonders.  (Even though you probably don't feel like exercising, people seem to say force yourself, even a very short walk will give you some benefit.)  Soak in a very hot tub (as hot as you can stand it) as many times as you need to throughout the day.  Apparently if you add the Epsom salts, it works even better as it helps you absorb magnesium, which is depleted during withdrawal.  Bananas help with restless legs as well.

I think you need to make sure you drink plenty of fluids to avoid getting dehydrated and eat as healthy as you can.  Even if you can only get a few bites in at a time.

If you have a doctor that will work with you, Clonidine helps with withdrawals.  (It's a blood pressure pill.)  And some people say Tylenol pm or Benadryl helps with sleep (though other people say it makes the restless legs worse.)  If you can, take ibuprofen for muscle aches.

Read more posts and you'll probably find more.  And you'll get plenty of support here from others who are going through the same thing or have in the past.  Best of luck.

I have been addicted for awhile now. It turned me into someone I didnt know. If run out and if u are like me then the withdrawl is the worst you will ever feel. Also, the person giving you advice is not correct and by the sounds of it he isn't or wasnt an opiate user. Then he cannot possible know enough about it to tell you what u should be doing. Quitting cold turkey can be extremely painful on your body and mind. Doing that also increases your chance to seizure like I did. If you truly want help you need to seek out the nearest methadone clinic and go that route. At first for few weeks you will still be using until you get raised to the proper level.  Once that happens you wont have cravings. You will feel fine and pain free. It a great route and the doctors are very helpful. Next thing u know u have money in your pocket cause u wont biy pills. Best thing I did.

Best thing I did i cant see him quitting just like that and if u did that then congrats.i assume he must have been on alot of other drugs that probably helped him out alot through his "withdrawl".

First of all DO NOT SNORT THEM!

The pills contain a non absorbable "filler" which will remain in your lungs and ten-fifteen  years down the line you may develop irresverible lung disease.  No different from asbestos disease. You may end up on a breathing machine unable to walk half a block.

Go cold turkey.

You will feel like hell for about a month. Aches and pains mostly, and inability to concentrate.

I was on precription oxys for serious spinal injuries and level ten pain, and one day just decided to stop.
