how do i get off perks and still function for my kids

Hello everyone I'm new here but I have been reading post for months now. And wow I'm so amazed and happy for everyone who are sober now. CONGRATS to all of you. Well I'm on percs and have been for 7 years and the wds are horrible. I have a question or a few. As long as I have been on them and at times I take vicodin or just whatever opiate I can get. But after all these years I still only have to take 1 5mg percocet and I get high from it. And a lot of people say that after long use they don't get high anymore but I still do. What reason could that be? I know people that take 8 to 10 pills at a time just to feel something. So I'm just curious to why I haven't built a tolerance?

Well to answer your question, It's very hard to function during the WD process.  for me it took about a week but the first 3 days were hell.  It might be a lil easier because you dont take more than 1 mg and it still gets you high.  what I did is that 3 days before my quit date I cut my doses in half dramatically.  Im not gonna lie though once you start that first day of cut down it your hell week starts.  There are a couple things you can take to help with the WD symptoms but it may seem like it doesnt work when you are going through them.  If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck ;)

OP supresses the central nervous system. Non Steroidal Anti-inflamitory drugs (NSAID'S) such as ibeprofen or other pain relievers such as tylenol and asprin help take away pain.  The OP however just mask it like in Hydrocodone which is a combination of OP and tylenol and I think pers are just straight OP but I'm not too sure.  So if you notice a person who has has had surgery and is in alot of pain they normally don't get too much of a high compare to a person who has minimal pain and gets high off the same dose.  So when there is WD from this OP the original pain is still there plus more pain that the OP has caused because now your body is asking for the drug and causing our body to have pain in order to get the OP.  But it is very possible to get off these OP.  It's not easy but the more you know what to expect the more you will be successful.

I dont know a direct answer to your question but I think it has everything to do with the pain receptors in our brains, everyone has a different amount therefore, it would take more or less for some people to get high. I am on percocets as well and have for about 3 years. How did you get addicted to them?
