Pregnant and Detoxing

I am 17 days away from having a baby. I asked for help 5 months ago for opiate w/d and got no help. I have taken suboxone for last few days. Was doing 60mg oxycodone a day. havent had oxycodone since Saturday. Suboxone only 2mg a day and haven't had one since Tuesday night. How bad will this this, is there anything I should worry for or watch for?? I have an overwhelming fear that I will not be able to take my child home when I go home. Please help. Im trying to go cold turkey.

I would agree that you need to talk to your DR about your problem,  I do not want to scare you, but you are very close to delivery, and the baby could go through W/D and thats when the nursing staff gets alarmed.  They could call in CPS to visit and investigate.  I am sorry for the bad news, but that is how it is.  I am not judging you, and I wish you the best, please tell your dr immediatley.  I am available to answer any of your questions, as I am a former CPS employee of Texas.,

well, if the meds were prescibed then they have no right to take your baby, if they were not then yes, thats a chance, but you have known that for a while
and if the do take the baby, it will not be forever, i can promise you that, i can talk to you about options if that does happen, for now you just need to know if you should detox (taper) or continue to take a small dose of narcotics and then allow the hospital to give the baby wd comfort meds

you should not and i really mean this take sub without letting your delivery room crew know that you have taken it within a week or so

some of the meds they will give you during child birth will ineract with sub. more so that any other drug

i commend you for asking for help now, but i am human so ofcoarse i wish you would have come here during your first tri-mester
but now you are ready to do the next right thing, and we must figure out what that is

there is a nurse that pops in this forum every once in a while, not sure if she is an ob/gyn or neo-nat
i am a paramedic, so i only see cases like this that do take a negative turn, but not all do

who was it that you asked to help you 5 months ago? dont worry about going back to them, but i am curious to see if it was a doctor

there is no over night cure for your situation, you can set up a taper plan now or like i said, tell your delivery crew so they can treat the baby

definantly nurse your baby, because if you do not tell the hospital what you are doing the baby will go through wd by herself and you dont want that,

its a difficult situation because most opiate addicted babies do not have such visible signs of wd, sometimes nurses will think that the baby has a milk allergy or gas

then later on when the baby starts school the parent will notice some developmental delay
no matter what you choose to do about your sitution,, please goto NA!!!

we have childcare at my homegroup meeting, so its very kid friendly, i also suggest that you look into a long term treatment center for mothers with small children, if you want help finding one in your area just ask

i do have a couple of questions....
have you been seeing an ob/gyn on a regular basis? i believe now you are supposed to be going every 2 weeks
and last, if you can post what you were taking during the last 7 months....i know you said oxcycodone, but did you take them everyday, once or 5x's a day, any other meds? did you take them orally or iv?

one last comment and then i will shut up.....i know you feel guilty right now, trust me when i say this
but for now, the past is the past
now it is up to you to make sure your child has a drug free mom, a mom she/he can look up too
not sure where you live, if its before 8pm please find an na meeting, just walk in and ask for help, you will have people get all pissy over your situation, but there will be more people who can guide you to the path of recovery

i am also sending you a pm

PLZ TELL YOU DOCTOR NOW ,selftreating yourself 17 days before your due date is a VERY bad idea !!!!!! THEY NEED TO KNOW ... Its when you dont inform the doctors and your baby tests postive   that you can end up in serous trouble  They will do everything they can to work with you if you are upfront .I know you are afriad but this is not about you its about your child it is very important they know .They will know what to look for .They will be able to care for the two of you it will be OK.

You do not wish to go cold turkey with 17 days until you have a child. No messing around here. Do not go cold turkey. Do go to the ER or make an appointment OB/GYN or whomever you are seeing about your pregnancy for tomorrow morning. Do not accept anything less. You will put your unborne child in shock - possibly induce too early a labor - and even risk your own health from several directions. NO JOKE. This is a very serious situation.....take care of it properly and you will get help. Any variation from properly and you will face prosecution for charges concerning the death of your child. Please do the right thing and do it ASAP ----
