Percocet withdrawal

Long story short I am 47 hours into a cold turkey quitting of Percocet...anywhere from 35 to 50 mg a day.  I tried tapering but no self control. So here I sit feeling like hell.  Fatigue and diarrhea are the worst of it.  I was addicted for four years.  Can anyone tell me how much longer I will feel like this?

Thanx you all so much...I actuall slept two hours and feel pretty awake no stomach irritation.  I didn't want my dr. To know about this but I will tell him next weekend because he may need to adjust my depression and anxiety medications it will be hard but you all are great I don think I would have made it these last few hours without this post because it was so bad.  Thanx again

Little bit had it all in her post. I will say congratulations on wanting your life back! Just know that you can do this and that it is SO worth it. Not being chained to a pill bottle every day is fantastic. It's a bumpy ride at first, so hang on and dig in. The fatigue and upset tummy will pass in time. Day 4 was the worst for me. I was using 60-80 mgs of perc/hydro/oxy a day, whatever I could get in the end. My WDs were no fun, but you will feel better and better.
A good attitude  and plenty of hot soaks will take you far. Remember, you CAN do this. That was my mantra. It got me through the really rough patches in those first few days. We're all here to support you. Take care and keep posting.

Day 3-4 seems to be the hardest.  By monday, you should be feeling a bit better.  Some say work seems to help with getting thru the day.  I thought the restless legs would drive me insane.   I am glad yours has improved.  Keep posting...getting thru the withdrawals is actually the easy part!  The hard part is after with the mental.  Stay close while that happens.  Your brain likes to play games because it  liked the pills.  The pills kept it from having to work and now it is having to work again and it is not happy.  :)  Keep up the good work.

Thanx so much.  I guess I need to believe there is a light at then end of this tunnel.  I need to work Monday there is no way out of it so I have to be better than this....I am prescribed Xanax so they help with sleep.  Restless leg was BAD for the first 36 hours but has calmed quite a bit.  I honestly do just feel like I have the flu....fatigue and stomach issues. I sleep but only 2 or 3 hours at a time.  I guess now is easy, I have no desire to even look at a Percocet,  I blame them though I know it is my fault....thanx again I have no support at home (my wife says its my own f.....g stupidity) so any help I get is appreciated

Usually between 3-7 days depending on many things.  Treat the symptoms.  Imodium, keep hydrated with gatorade and water, try to eat as much as you can to keep your energy up.  Here is my story maybe something will help. I hope so.

I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU!  It will be over and I will feel so much better.  My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.  It is hard, but doable!  The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page) under Health Pages will help.  I did not to the tranquilizers and had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped.  Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help.  I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.

Hydrate and eat! ((gatorade is good) Even if it is just a little every hour or so.(boost or ensure might work for both food and drink)  You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.

If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works.  Walking seemed to help me some.  Hot bath with epsom salts..a little.  I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep.  If nothing works, your doctor might help.  Benedryl or OTC Alteril helps some with sleep issues and you will have them.

One hour at a time is all anyone can ask.  After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time!  Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill.  I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.  I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.

The hardest part comes after the detox.  Your brain will be all over the place and will try to get you back on the pills...It is having to work and not depend on the pills to help.

Good for you.  I hope all goes well.  You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!!  Keep posting!!!!!
