Please help

Hi. I am a 52 year old male.I started using Lortabs on and off about 6 years ago after arm surgery and three shoulder surgerys.
I have been taken 3 10mg tablets per day for the last 2 years because of back pain.
I realize this isn't a lot compared to some folks but I don't like what they are doing to me. I will not keep taking these.
I took my last pill 21 hours ago. My head is swimmy and I am emotional. Kinda feel like I have the flu.
What can I expect in the next week ? When will the withdrawal syptoms go away ?
Can I do this ? Would some one help me ?
I am working 12 hour shifts at a factory while doing this.
I have three collage age kids to care for.
My wife left home three days before Christmas after 30 years of marriage.
I am broke.
And I must move in 30 days.
I'm trying to hold all this together.
I do trust and depend on God. Aways have always will.
Thank you all. Please help me.

I was just wondering if you will be willing to start a new thread.? I am following your journey from a cell phone (many of us do) and the longer the threads get the harder it is to keep up. Thank u sweetie.

hi wannabe - I just found this site.  I join everyone else rooting for you.  Do you know if your work has a confidential Employee Assistance Program where you could get counseling?

Why can't grown men cry?  You are allowed to have feelings and emotions!  Crying is allowing you to get them out!  It is much better than holding them in or taking pills to numb them!  Don't get discouraged because of a bad night. It will happen just as sleepless happens to the "normal" or nonaddict (I think I just made that word up...lol) people. You are doing great!  You have a lot going on in your life so I give you a high five on going thru withdrawals at the same time!  Start you a new post and people will see that you have new questions!  Do you still have a bottle of pills?

Thanks everyone. I thought I would be past the hardest part then last night WOW! It was bad. A grown man is not suppose to cry but I have been. A lot. I miss my wife. My car has quit running. I have to find a new place to live and going thru detox. I am so overwhelmed. You guys make it easier. I know that there are people who care. I while survive.God controls my life. I gave it to Him a long time ago. Thanks again and I pray for each of you.

Congrats on 7 days!!  that's great!  I agree with Rosy....starting a new thread will get more people to see how you are doing.  The older the thread is, it will get sent to the second and third page on the site.  Sometimes the symptoms will crop up out of nowhere....this is normal....just push thru them like you did earlier....it really WILL get better!!

Hey wana-no you didn't offend anyone. It's pretty slow on the weekends. However, keep checking your post throughout the day. You'll see more friends reply to your post... Anyways, what's up? How are you feeling? Congrats on a week!!! Soo awesome. You're still in early detox so it's normal to feel like your " back peddling" I had that. For example, day 3 and 4were " okay" but, day 5 and 6 were my worst day. So, it's normal to feel like you take one sep forward and 2 steps back. Just go with it. It's Parton the process. Be patient. Their is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm 4 months clean and I feel amazing. You are in my prayers. P.s. do you have any pills left around your house?

I miss counted ! It's only been 96 hours !

I am very anxious and restless. Still can't sleep.

Anxiety may be because I haven't seen my wife in four weeks. She left home and never returned. We have been married 30 years.
And I have to find a new place to live and move.
And I am almost broke.
And I am going to have to ask my daughter to quit collage cause I can no longer pay for it.
And I stopped taking Lortab during all this.
But mostly I miss and worry about my precious wife.
Please pray for her. And for me.

I agree with the others, GET RID OF THE PILLS NOW!!!!  Hanging on to them is like telling God in case He didn't hear you, You can take care of it yourself. I know I've been there. I will also be praying for you and your family. God Bless

Hang in there man. The pills are not the answer, they are the problem.
I was in your shoes 2 years ago. Broke, fiance ditched me, etc. It WILL
GET BETTER. PRAY. Drink fluids, EAT. Exercise if you are able and don't worry about not sleeping, it will come. Remember the pills landed you where you are. Take it one hour at a time. You can do this.

Hey... Your going to start feeling better every day... The worst will soon be behind you. I wanted to tell you that keeping a full bottle of pills, or ANY PILLS, is setting yourself up for failure!! The addict brain will scream, tell you lies, beg and plead until before you know it the viscous cycle starts all over again. Keeping them around is like a back up plan! YOU DON'T NEED IT!!

My advice... Get rid of them! ASAP! If your getting clean and planning on staying that way... Set yourself up for success!

Yes. I want off for good. Yes I always took as prescribed by my Doctor. 3 10mg Lortab per day as needed for pain. No I never ran out.
I do not think the Lortab caused my present situation. The financial problems have been building for 20+ years. My wife leaving is due to her childhood and me not being smart enough to take those extra steps to make sure she was happy.
What do you mean my head may not "talk to me "?
Thank you for helping.

Thanks again to everyone. I really really do appreciate all your help and encouragement.
I now feel as if I have the flu. Does that sound right for being about 80 hours without a lortab ? I dread tonight. Why are nights so hard ?

Hi again
If it's at all possible maybe you can pick up some Alteril if your anxiety and sleep problems persist.  It is an all natural sleep aid which many members have used and it has helped them.  No hangover and it's non-addictive.
It also has valerian root in it which helps with anxiety.

You are doing so well and have so much on your plate.
Keep posting, we're all rooting for you.

Hi there , I have read all the post and just wanted to add my experience as I was taking the same amount as you . (30milg. a day ) We are considered light users compared to most in this fourm . Believe me no one gets off free but at your level of dosage you should be over the worst of it I would think . The real demon for me was the anxiety and boredom but that too faded in about 5 weeks and got better all through that time frame . If you're laying in bed and want to know the journey of a fellow 30mlg. Abuser please read my old post starting in 2007 . I am not saying you are not going to have to give the Devil his due just nothing like one of our fellow members who has been taking 200mlg. A day . For me the physical withdrawals were nothing it was the mentle distress that takes some time . Hang in there my friend and you will be much better very soon . Jimmy

Another rough night. Couldn't sleep. Couldn't lie still. It's like I am so tired but so restless at the same time. And the anxiety ! I can't wait for it to go away.
It seems like the physical withdrawals have diminished somewhat.
Please God let this be over soon. There is so much more that I need to deal with.
74 hours drug free.
