I just wanted to ask if clonidine, nerontin, or Valium help w opiate wd?? If so when should I use it?

O ic. This will b my 2nd. I don't have to but I want to. I still have 2 prescription left but I want to see if I can handle my pain. I have spine issues. So I may need to start back on my meds again but I'm going to try not too. So that's my plan for now. I'm good on the mental but physical is scary. The 1st wd was BAD. Off of work for 2wk n also no sleep. I had sucha bad heartburn I just wanted to take my tummy out. Is that norm, the heRtbrn? I really hope that won't happen again. Was all ur wd's the same? Mayb I shoulnt even try to quit??.....

Honey, I have been through WD so many times that I have lost count!!!!  Probably 100 times.  It never gets easier!  It only gets worse the longer you take drugs.  What are you planning for aftercare?  If I had done that the first time, the last 99 wouldn't have happened!

I would ask the doc but I don't see him anymore. I don't wanna ask my primary, she's a a**. she never tries to help. Only c her cuz she's close to my work. I been researching bout the patch n I think i am going to try it. It seems like it helps others. Hope it will help me. Was ur wd bad! Was it ur first wd?

No, I think I can answer.  They will delete the post if we say anything we are not supposed to.  My doctor gave me clonidine immediately when I started detox.  If you are supposed to be on it anyway, then I would not see a problem??????  The very best thing you can do right now is talk with a doctor or pharmacist about the meds that you're asking about.  Without knowing your medical history, it would be a very bad idea to give you advice concerning meds for detox!!!

Yea Valium doesn't really do much for me anyways. I have clonidine patch. He said to use it every wk. But I was afraid to use it since it's for blood press med. I never knew it was used for wd. When did u start clonidine? Can I ask this or isn't against the rule? If u can't answer thn don't but I just wanted ur experience w clonidine.

Yes, I think time off work is always good for WDing if you can do it.  Not everyone can though!  A week off would be great if you can take it.  I wouldn't honestly recommend that anyone take valium, even during WDs.  It's just not a good plan.  I'd flush them.  I've never heard anyone say they helped much anyway.  I did take clonidine.  It did help me.  I do know that they use in in detox facilities, because unfortunately I have found myself in a few of them!!!  But let me warn you.....do NOT over take them.  Take no more than the prescription calls for.  They can be very dangerous to your blood pressure as far as bottoming it out suddenly.

Sure, I do have prescription for all n the dosage info on it but wasn't sure y the doc had prescribed these b4. I don't c that's doc anymore so I can't call him. That's y I thought I'd ask people who had experience w these. I just wanted their experience stories. If that's against the rule then sorry.

Please be careful when taking advice about these, or any, medications.  Your doctor should be advising you about these medications.  They can have dangerous side effects, and could end up with you trading one drug for another, in some cases.

Yea i knw bout benzos, very dangerous for wd'ing ct. I just don't like the hot flashes n the chills. Also rls. But I heard walmart sells something for that?? So will clonidine help for the sweats n hot flash? How bout nerontin?

Do u think I need time off of wrk?

Oh I was taking these starting this feb or march. So not too long. I didn't wana take it over a yr n have a real bad wd. That's y I wana try to stop now. The first wd I was taking oxycodone n vics for a yr. Was probably doing almost 200 mgs. I knw this mg is nothing compare to the one b4 but isn't wd harder for 2nd time around??

Yes they will help.  Don't exceed the dosage though.  And don't take them for very long, or you will end up having to be weaned off of them.  Try not to take the valium.  It's a benzo and addictive, but I'm guessing you know that! : )

Oh I am taking norco 10/325, probably 7-10 a day. But now cut it down to vicES 6 a day. So did the clonidine help for sweats n hot flash? I was thinking bout stopping in a day or two. I still have a prescription for norco but just wana stop n c if I can take the pain. This will b my 2nd wd. I just didn't wana it to be bad as the 1st. I'm lil scared. Just wana to be lil easy the the 1st. When did u start the clonidine?

Oh, sorry. But can I even ask if these meds help for wd? The doc had given me these b4 but never used it. I was asking cuz I read somewhere it may b used for wd's. I kinda knw how to take it but didn't wana take it if I didn't need to n also if it didn't help with wd's. Hope thus clarifies it alil.

We can't help you with dosing instructions on those meds hun. That is dangerous and not permitted here. You need to see your doctor and take them as prescribed. Please don't fool around with that.
