I have always found it RIDICULOUS that doctors prescribe methadone for "pain management" and then something like NORCO for "break-thru" pain!! Are we seriously buying this ****? Methadone when used for addiction treatment is taken all at once and if used for "pain management" should be taken in smaller doeses throughout the day, thus eliminating this elusive "BREAK-THRU" pain....YES, JOHNKELLY...I SEE THE IRONY...LOUD AND CLEAR!!!! Crazy, huh?
I hate to say this..and I feel for you..because this is going to get really bad, especially in the next few days..I went cold off 65mg of meth..I was more than just sick for 2 weeks and then could finally talk ..and then another 2 weeks of feeling pretty bad..all in all I would say it took about 2 months to feel even remotely human..this is going to be hard and since you are in so much pain anyway..there's going to be even more pain. I suggest you tell your dr. that your dosage wasn't cutting it. And as Eagle said..maybe you need to change meds..I am sorry your going through this..
Sounds to me like you need the meds evaluated and possibly changed.....
The dr. is not making me go thru it. I took more than normal. I knew better. But sometimes the pain is just overpowering. We all know the rest. I am just to embassed to tell him. Maybee if I make it the 2 weeks I will be able to handle the prescribed dosage better. I have to say I am feeling pretty bad right now. Just to let everyone know I don't just take them to take them. I have had 8 surgeries on my neck. With 10 skrews, 2 rods, 2 plates, and 5 fusions. 2 of the surgeries were considered failed.
gosh, how come you ran out? if you're on it for chronic pain management, i would think no doctor would make you go through horrid withdrawal for two weeks til you can get rescripted? that's awful. or did you take too many here and there and so run out? still, even if that's the case, it's pretty uncaring. specially if you do actually need it for pain. will the doctor do nothing? can you get something else?
to answer your question though, it's not fun that's for sure. i'm on day 13 methadone w/d's, and i gotta say it's pretty yuk. though i may feel a tiny bit better today than i did yesterday. don't know. but i'm having to take clonidine, baclofen every few hours to help deal with it. when that wears off, it's pretty grim feeling.
i so feel for you.
I am really sorry but you dont get the suger coat - It is highly likely that you will still be out of sorts when your script is ready again. Methadone can take months to get in the rear view mirror.....and it will never get there as long as you feed the cycle...think about this very seriously - you are literally rolling dice for your life.. and yes - I have that t-shirt - it even shrunk.....
Noted!! Methadone used as a pain-med is better dispensed in intrvels.I dont consider it a 1st choice, Maybe one on thr time release narcotics. all the best john
John
Close, In my case the norco was for breakthru pain. the Methadone is also a pain releiver The Norco s fast acting but only lasts a couple hours. Methadone lasts much longer, however doesn't hit the pain as quickly. Hate to straighten you out. But thats the way it is.
narco is a narcotic to relievepain, methadone is a drug to treat narcotic addictin in a replacement context.Do you see any ironie?
