Quick Tramadol (Ultracet) Question...

I'm not looking to start a big thread or anything... I just have a quick question about this drug.  Supposedly it is non-narcotic right?  It's some type of synthesized narcotic or something like that.  I see that there are quite a few people who are struggling with it and I was wondering if most people abuse it because it gives them some type of high like other narcotics...  Thanks in advance....

Thanks everyone!  I was just curious about it... I've never taken one and I certainly don't intend to either.  I just asked because I'm a little ignorant I guess.... :)

I have to disagree, my DOC is oxycontin and I'm now on tramadol to control chronic pain. I do not get any high from it whatsoever. I get a more of a sense of calmness.  I do agree that it is very addictive and hard to get off of.

I quit hydrocodone with a friend..we did the WD thing together..she did much better as she was on tramadol XR...a week or so later..she told me she was abusing them/chewing them and quit....she withdrew again for a few days and this time she got RLS...she made it tho,,,I have those and have take them here and there for back pain since I quit the lortabs...I do not get high off of them but am very scared of them..I dont think it is worth it for me to chance an addiction to something again even tho they do not make me high and when I take them i take just one...just not worth it...It is too bad that I have done this to myself...But I have so for the rest of my lefe i will have to be wary of any narcotics

I agree with Toxic.....bad and dangerous drug. I think people were lulled into a false sense of security that it is not addictive. Many have learned the hard way, just how incorrect this is. Very hard to w/d from.

To answer you question regarding Tramadol is yes it gives you the same high as opiates if abused.  another add bonse is that it also has a mood stablizer that people with anxiety disorders find helpful.  It has  a half life so getting it out of your system takes longer and has a potental to cause sezures.

I'm sorry no one has answered about tramadol but from what I have read it is addictive as well as suboxone and you will have to wean down on it too.  I personally would rather not trade one addiction for another, the w'ds are bad but a week and you will feel better.  Mybe go to google and look up the thomas recipe than has helped many and you have your wife;s support now but you will have to be off work to do the thomas recepe.  It is just slow here right now someone will answer soon.
