I know what u r going through girl, let me tell you, my dose was 250mgs and now ive detoxed all the way down to 10mgs, its hell, but in the long run its so worth it to me even in all my pain i know im going to get off this ****, i hate these liquid handcuffs, you cant go anywhere, without giving atleast a months notice to your clinicians approval, atleast thats the way it is in massachusetts. and you better hope where ever your going that they take insurance for example i visited my uncle in louisiana, and no methadone clinic down there acceptes ins. its cash only and its 50 mi. one way and 50 back, and as far as sweating i dont mean to sound vulger but i sweat like a ***** in church! I think the longer u stay on it the worse it gets especially that im 41 now and i got on it when i was 29.
Hi. Yes I would sweat like crazy on it too.We ALL do. karl
HI I think I have answered a post from you b/4 the nic looks familiar...anyway to stop this dreaded habit you have to be in it for the long haul...if your at 80ml you can probably do it in about 4mo time....you first have to go to your clinic and sigh whats called a" medically supervised withdrawal " statement....they then will have you meet with your conslor and decide at what rate they feel would be good to start droping you dose by most clinics would rather error on the side of safety and bring you off pritty slow...usually arond 2mil a week...some clinics will let you go at 5ml a week at first but then when your down to around 50 or 40 will start the 2ml thing....tapering off takes a lot of perseverance your body will tolerate certain drops with eaze but other doses will seam difficult..the best thing to do is let your body be the final judge in how fast you drop doses...if your feeling the withdrawals bad slow down and give it a couple of extra days for them to subside b/4 you drop doses again....this is a race one by the tortus not the hare...there is no completely comfortable way of doing this but if you taper right the discomfort can be managed ...I tell everyone this b/4 you start...get comfortable with the saying...''you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile" you will see what I mean as you progress with doing this...at first it shouldn't give you to many problems except when you get sorta stuck at a certain dose...it happened to me at 60 40 and 20....20 was shere he!! to break threw for me it took me 6 weeks to adjust to the dose....most of the time it goes pritty smoothly a little achey and some anxiety...being a bit tired where typical withdrawal symptoms but there not to extream till you hit the lower doses....the most important thing is a positive attitude wile doing this...most of the time you will be ok there are times that you notice the withdrawals dont go back up in dose...you fight to hard to give back ground and this is where I differ from the clinics ...they will tell you to go back up in dose to get rid of the withdrawals im a firm believer in sticking it out...with time they will go away and then you can move down again...yo/yo your dosing up and down only prolongs the time it takes to get off it and also I think it is very important to learn to tolerate a little discomfort wile doing it it will help you out emencely in the end of your taper when the going gets a bit ruffer...I will help you out along the way we can start to message one another and I will work with you 1 on 1 your going to need the support along the way...keep posting and reading the posts...let me know when your ready to get started...the sooner the better..its ezer if your not on it for yrs like I was...hang in there there is a lot of support here on the forum and also a lot of experience to draw from....this will be one of the best decisions of your life....I look forward to helping you...good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
thank you, i have been on here for about a month and posted other questions and yes i do want off, i was ready aftyer the first sip :) please help
HI and welcome to the forum.....I was on methadone for 6 1/2yrs and use to get the type of sweets your talking about...it would be a little hot in the building that I worked in and although others complained a bit I sweeted right threw my shirt to the point where I would have to loosen my tie ....I was a dripping mess...it is just one of the side effects of methadone...when you finely get feed up with the whole onslaught of side effects of the stuff and want to quit ....we can help you out...untill then you just have to put up with this and many other side effects...on the bright side you can get off the stuff when your ready....its nothing you can just stop...it has to be tapered off over months of time but in the end it is so so worth it...if you need help I can help you.....I have helped others do this successfully its no fun being chained to the liquid handcuffs keep posting and reading the posts...good luck and God bless....Gnarly
