Sick and Tired

I am new to this forum so far I love it. I go to pain management and have so many things wrong with me physically that it would take a while to list so I am in lots pain. The doctor put me on 5 Narco and 3 Opana ER 30 mg. a dayIhave been on them 2 years now. In Feb. my son was robbed and murdered which brought my stress level up which in turn increased the amount of pain I have. Sometimes when I am really sad I will take 2 opana instead. Anyway I am just sick of taking pills so after finding this website I have decided to taper off and stop pain pills all together I am going to try acupuncture and explore other options these pills can not be good for my liver. I know my son would want me to let my light shine be happy and help others. I need all the support I can get you all are such caring people. So I guess for the next week I will stay with 1 opana and 4 narcos for one week then go down 1 more narco the next week then maybe three quarters opana too, should I take it that fast or what do you kind people think please help me I am determined not sure how to use this website yet but I will figure it out eventually. Thanks to everyone.

Im so sorry to read about your son...what a terrible loss...Im sure there are n words to describe what you must be feeling right now but you are right in thinking that he would want to let your light shine and be happy!!  You have come to the right place!  We will all be here for you as you start your journey with the pain meds!  It may not be a fun journey for a while but it is certainly the right one!!!  Definitely look into a tapering schedule with your Doc!  And find a good counselor to help you through your grief!  We will all be here for you routing you on!!!  Keep on posting as much as you need to!!!!

OMG I'm so so sorry for your loss!! :(( you've made the right choice to taper off your meds, these meds can seriously suppress our emotions. So if you're not already I'd look into some counsling. I know when my granny passed away it was very hard and sad for me. I was still on the oxycodone at the time, and when I quit a year later it was like all the pain and grief of losing her hit my like a ton of bricks. It felt so fresh, like I'd just lost her. This is because my emotions were so suppressed well on the meds. I'm not saying this will happen to you,but be prepared. Look into aftercare (n/a AA meetings) and get a grief counsler if you haven't already. You've come to the right place,we will all be here for you. As for your tapering you need to book an app. With your doc and explain to him you're ready. Then set up a tapering plan,it will be so much easier to do this with your doctors help. You set the pace. So proud of you wanting this, and I'm again I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart hurts for you. xoxo Krissy.

Hi and welcome to the forum~

I am so very sorry to hear about your son.  Emotional pain creates physical pain and i am glad you are recognizing that part.  Have you gone to any grief support groups?  As for getting off the meds.....tapering is a very good idea.  Have you told your doctor your plans?  Your pain will increase during this time.  It is called rebound pain and usually subsides after a bit.  Once you are off all the meds you will be able to assess your pain level better.  We are glad you are here so lean on us~
