I am a thyroid patient and ended up in the er last week due to high tsh levels. I skip my meds often, and was told to take them properly! I have this week went from taking 7/8 hydrocodone 10's a day to 2, I started this on monday of this week. i have ffelt extremely ill. I felt better yesterday, and woke up feeling great today, but ended up dizzy and nauseated severely. Wound back up in er, they said I need to follow up with my family doctor. Anyway, I abused for a year after my hysterectomy, but I'm done with them! Am I going through withdrawls? Is that why I feel so crappy? I've been talking 1/2 of the hydro 10's every 4-6 hours. I don't get high but I feel better and can function. I just want to know if this is normal.

It sounds normal to me. You've cut down on what your system is used to and have entered withdrawal. Yes, you should absolutely get with your doctor and let him/her know your intentions on quitting. There are a few tricks they have up their sleeve to help you out, like Clonidine and taper suggestions.  Below we have a link for the Thomas recipe. Get those items and follow the directions. Also, get some Epsom Salts for hot baths. The baths work wonders during detox.

Congratulations on working on quitting. The other part of your post you mention you can function better. That's just a glimpse of what's to come as you come off of hydro. Life will get better!! I wish you the best as you get clone and serene.

LOL, now that made my day!  Yes, go get cloned and you'll certainly feel serene. Ask your family doctor about the clone program. :-)

I'm okay on the two a day. I'm just wondering how long should I stick to that? I've had hell week.. And I guess by body has adjust to the two a day because if  I miss a 1/2 dose I get SICK! I push 1/2 every 4-6 hours, but have went 8 hours.

Congrats friend!
SO glad you are quitting now!
You are tapering quickly and this sickness is bad but it will prevent the real bad physical stuff that you would get if you go CT.

I tapered quickly too. How I did it is like you, cut the dose, and then I went with the cut dosage for a few days, until my body was used to that amount somewhat, and then I would cut it again, on a Thursday, so that I would feel the real impact of the taper on Saturday and sunday.
I keep **** that until I was down to a small amount, then jumped off.
Keep your eye on that goal, it will be hard, but you can do it! drink Ensure when you can't eat.
We are here for you.
hugs,
Lily

You're doing good.  At some point, tapering just prolongs the WDs, so be sure and get with your doc so that he/she can make sure that you're not doing that.  Once we get to a certain low dose, we just say in WD all the time until we stop them and just get the WDs over with.  I hope that makes sense?  Tapering can be a good way to do it for some people, but it didn't work for me, so I don't have many suggestions there.  Your doc can definitely help you.  As tempting as it is, just be sure that you don't accept any meds that might cause you to delay the inevitable!  I totally know how that sickness feels and what you'll do to make it stop, but sleeping pills, benzos, etc will only make things worse.  They DO have things they can do to help though.  The Thomas Recipe is good to use.  You can kinda tailor it to what you need by what symptoms bother you most.  The main thing is to stay hydrated.  SO important to drink and eat even if you have no appetite.  I didn't do that, and I was miserable.  When I finally ate a little because the hubby made me, I felt a little better.  Even though you're tapering, that still applies.  Let us know what the doc says, and good luck! :)
