Smoking pills

My 23year old daughter has been struggling with an addiction to smoking pills. Today we took her and made her drop a UA we will have the results tomorrow. She says she isn't doing them anymore but there is a distinct smell I notice after she does it. I smelled it on her just last night. Today she said the only thing I will find is Methadone. I am clueless about these things. I don't know the signs, how people act on them, how often, etc. I do know she isn't my normal daughter anymore. I can just tell. But she eats, sleeps & functions. The research I have done basically says its very addicting but I still don't know a lot about it. What is the feeling she gets? She seems to have more energy which seems to go against the opiate reaction I thought she would have. There was a time she admitted to smoking heroin which I thought made people sleepy???? I want & need to help her. She is raising our 2 1/2 year old grandson!!! Any advise from anyone would be helpful like signs, how to help her get off??? TY

Im sure its hard for you to see your daughter using...I broke my moms heart for many years. The problem here though is that unless your daughter is ready to get clean...she wont get clean. It wont matter how much you plead with her...if shes not ready...shes not ready. Im not saying that's the case with your daughter though.

I guess the best way you can help your daughter is to let her know you care about her and will support her in her recovery...but not in her addiction. Then...form a plan on how you can protect your grand baby...and YOURSELF.

Hi and Welcome you might get moved to another site..But I will say that she has to want to help herself and come clean..It sounds like she does have a very serious issue..I was snorting the methadone with another drug..It does get you up and going..If she is doing the methadone it is a bad drug to detox off of..So you are not sure if it is the H or Methadone or both..It sounds like she is getting this off the streets..So most likely she is around her so-called friends who are using..If she would like some help freeing herself from this she can check in here with her own password & name..Other wise have you considered talking to her about treatment?? Is the DR aware of any of this??This is very, very serious Disease..I hope she will come to terms with it on her own..
