Soma Addiction

Hello Everyone!
Thanks Nauty for your support. I am wondering if Wellbutrin will help with me getting off of Soma. I have been on it for about 6 years. Progressively getting worse. I know I need to quit cold turkey, but I am a mother of 5 boys and going through a lot of things right now. My father just died a couple of months ago, I am used to working full time(now a stay at home mom) , the addiction is killing my finances, not to mention the possible trouble it could cause my marriage and harm to my children. I have gained a tone of weight and cannot get out of this rut. Usually I can snap out of it. I have even gotten over a cocaine addiction cold turkey. I am depressed and pissed at myself. What do you think about the Wellbutrin.....I have taken it before.

Thanks for your comments. I will talk to my doctor. I guess I am just not in a good place, strong place, mentally to stop right now. I know that I need to though. That is why I am asking for your support to just stop everything all together. Sometimes in your life you are just at a really dark place emotionally. My father died a couple of months ago and I still haven't cried yet!!  Usually I can snap out of it. Right now I can't. I really don't have anyone to talk to about this or to help or ask for support. So, you guys are it for right now. Can't afford to see the doc or have the time to go. That sounds so stupid and soooooooooooo not logical. But maybe if I talk about it with you guys more, I can get the courage to do this. Ive been through worse. Do you think the Soma is causing the depression? Thanks for listening!!!!

If I am not wrong the Soma and the Wellbutrin both work on the dopamine supply with the brain.  For this reason wellbutrin is sometimes used for quitting Soma......... Agree with Beargizmo though... Much better off to get a Pro's opinion that knows you medically.

yes..cold turkey is the only way that I know of..I'm taking it by prescription for my back..3x/day..and that is it.  I suppose I could cut back to 2x/day then 1x/day...but I'm not addicted either...that I know of anyway.

I personally don''t know how the wellbutrin will help, if you've taken it before and had no problems OK...I just don't know how it will help.  Have you discussed this with your doctor?  Sounds like perhaps these are not prescribed but you may want to see him/her and lay it all on the table and see what he/she has to say.

My wife had horrible experiences with wellbutrin..

best of luck to you

Nope.......I have found contray to what some say........I am speaking for myself only and my pretty substantial soma issues of the past.  C/T is the only way.  tapering never worked with soma.......dnt' think it will, but you can try.......

~~hugs~
