but my Methadone intake has gone up to 40ish mg a day... if I go down to 10-20mg I sweat so bad I can't go out in public.  seriously, I'm comfortable, but people would literally freak out as my head/face would be SOAKING wet.  I want to be off this stuff so badly but bottom line I'm just scared.  Scared of going back to vics, scared of w/d, scared of long w/d.  Did I mention fear too?  ;)   I can't lie --- I do like the overall feeling from the methadone, not that I get buzzed, just a feeling of 'not craving' if that makes sense....

Hello. Methadone makes me sweat too,as it does with most people.Now I am at 7mg a day and that low dose doesn't cause sweating.
After I stayed on the methadone for a year or two,the craving for pills is gone,that is why they recommend staying on it for a while.Now after almost five years it is time to get off everything. If you still crave the pills,be careful ,you don't want to waste all your efforts,just to start popping pills again.  Good luck to you.                                         karl

do you have a program? are you going to meetings? so what if you are sweating. it will pass. use that fear to motivate yourself. if some other disease was making you sweat, something with no shame, guilt or secrecy, would you care what folks thought. i am not trying to be a b#@$h. i am pretty much going through the same thing. my program is getting me through. peace, sway

Well thank god i'm not one of those OLD timers!!!  LOL

Have you talked with gnarly at all?  He is our new CL here and he has come off methadone and been clean for quite awhile....He is VERY helpful and has some really good tips on getting off this stuff.  How is the recovery care going?  You know i am always cheering you on my friend~~~~~sara
