Stressed out!

I wanted to know if i really had a problem with my medication. I have had 16 knee surgeries from sports and have had chronic pain for seems like forever. I take either a vicodin or percocet mid day around noon and possibly another one before i got to bed. I have people and loved ones saying that i should get off them and i think to myself that its not thier legs that keep them up at night,am i wrong for thinking that? Do i have a problem? Why does a pill make me a bad person as they tell me for taking them or that why not just take advil. Im sorry but advil is weak and the way my legs feel i know that something like that would not work for me due to my leg issues that i have. I had my most recent surgery in May and im still recovering from it just to get another surgery in December. I dont abuse my medications nor do i take them to get high, i take them cause they make my legs feel better than they would without taking a pain med.

Hi,

Addiction is not all about the drug use. It is about the behavior associated with it as well.

How long have you been on the pills? Have you taken more than prescribed? Do your refills run out early? Do you buy them on the streets? These are all signs of addiction is answered yes.

There are people who can take pain medication and not become addicted. If they help you, then stick with what you are doing and just keep yourself in check.

I hope that you can get past that pain some day. Best of luck.

If you are taking them as perscribed for pain and arent running out of your script, I wouldnt be to worried...However I would say be very careful as you know opiates are very addicting... Good luck. Maybe consult your Dr, see what he can recommend that may not be a narcotic. Peace Kim
