Surprised I am in withdrawals, Would like input

I have been on hydrocodone for several years for a medical condition. I have never taken more than 20mg per day, much less than prescribed and for the past year have taken between 2.5mg - 10mg per day. One half tablet of a 7.5 per day was the norm for the past 5-6 months.

Even though I have an RX I don't want it to show up for my new job so I decided to stop taking them. My last one was Saturday afternoon so I am on day 3 without any medicine.

Last night I had restless legs until 5AM when I finally fell asleep. This morning I am tired and my legs are really sore from twitching so badly. I took tylenol PM and melatonin and chamomile tea. Nothing worked. It just stopped at 5AM and I was able to sleep until 10AM.

I did not think I would have such a reaction with such a small dose. Do you think last night was the worst and now it's going to get better? I have no urges to take any more especially if they are going to make me feel like this if I don't have them. I have an rx here but thinking of tossing them. I have never been addicted to anything and this is basically freaking me out! I am in my fifties with no past of any abuse so why is this happening? I guess I thought if you took as prescribed you wouldn't have withdrawals. I think I was wrong about that one. lol

How funny but not funny.  Very similar to my story I am on day 4 and much better but have the  blues and RLS... I got this great stuff for RLS its from the vitamin store Hylands Leg Cramps with Quinine.  Its natural and with this and ibf and i too use a sleep aid.  I took 4 to 6 norco (10s) six months and the first three days were Hell.  I would rather give birth again to my three kids!!!  Good Luck from what i heard on this forum we will all find our rainbow right around the corner.

Thank you for your comment. I believe I will be trying something herbal to manage pain from now on. I don't like this at all. I feel badly for those who have had to deal with much higher doses and withdrawal. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. <3

I feel fine except for the residual pain for the restless legs and exhaustion from no sleep. I am still drinking hot tea and honey and have had 2 hot baths today. I am squeaky clean that's for sure. lol

Thanks for the encouragement. I sure hope you are right. I am having some nice tea and honey now and plan a long bath for the leg pain.

Even taking as prescribed, you'll feel withdrawl symptoms.

As for how long the the w/d's last, it's different for everyone. You sound like you're past the worst of it. Every day it'll get better, friend. Hang in there.
