TAPERING OFF OF NORCO 10/325

I was also wondering if anyone new about incorporating Clonidine HCL 0.1MG with a tapering schedule to detox off of Norco 10/325? I take 15mg. a day, or 5mg three times a day and would like someone to provide me with a slow tapering schedule to detox off of this medication that also uses Clonidine to help reduce the detox withdrawl symptoms. I am presently going through withdrawl symptoms everyday such a muscle and bone pain, sweating, mood changes, etc. I have been very uncomfortable using this drug as I reached my tolerance months ago and my body is now requesting that I give it a higher dose. Which I do not want to do, as I want to slowly detox myself off of this medication.

1. I am not taking the Clonidine for BP. The 0.1mg was given to me to take by a pain management doctor who did not give me a detox schedule!  However, two nights ago I took this medication for the first time at bedtime and yesterday I felt terrible all day!

2.I am 54 with osteoporosis. In 2005 I suffered two compression fractures in T8 and T9 and had surgury to correct these fractures. I also had three level fusion in my cervical spine levels c5 -c7. As a result of the two surgeries I began suffering from chronic back, shoulder, neck spasms that are very painful and was given Norco 10/325.

3. I am looking for a 3 to 4 week tapering schedule with or without the Clonidine.
    a. I snap a 10mg norco in half and take one 5mg. norco pills three times a day
    b. 3 to 4 week taper
    c. I also take .75 mg of klonopin, .25mg three times a day. I also take synthroid
        for an underactive thryoid - .112 mcg. per day

i dont have engough infor to help

1. are you currently taking clonidine for bp? or do you want to know a standard dose used in detox?

2. what are you diagnosed with? knowing the condition that is causing your pain will help someone figure out a taper plan for you? is it an injury or illness?

3. in a facility this detox would take 3 to 7 days, depending on your insurance, i read that you want a slow taper

a) how many 5mg pills will you be working with
b) are you looking for a two week taper or 2 month taper
c) what other medications are you taking? want to make sure comfort meds such as clonidine can be taken with your current meds

i am not a doctor, and any taper suggestion should be discussed with your primary care doctor
most doctors will not take the time to set up a taper schedule, so you may not get the help you need, depending on health issues you have, you may need inpatient tx

ur doctor will have to advise u on the clonidine dose..side effect can lower ur bp and make u pass out...75 mg a day is not a horrible dose to detox from...will fel flu like for a few days..do u work...?  pick a day that u have a few days off to quit if u taper...there is a great article in the health pages on tapering..main thing is stop taking 5 at once and spread them out thru the day and go lower and lower/5-6 does a day...ur dose is also a very do-able ct dose

here u will probably be ready to quit...as u will feel a bit bad anyway...u can repeat these lines 2, 3 ,4 times each if u want to prolong ur taper..if u do someone needs to hold ur pills as a rule..doses are taken like 3-4 hours apart

be sure u have stocked up on the recipe

Hi and welcome to the forum.. I have to be honest with you.. You are at the point right now where you are taking a very small amount.. My advice would be to stop and go through the wd process.. In my experience there is no way to get off Opiates without wd.. There are things you can do that would ease the process... You could talk to your Dr. and tell him you want off the pills that way he can instruct you in the proper use of the Clonidine.. It would be over in a 6 days with day 3 and 4 being the worst.. As you say you are going through wd symptoms right now.. Why not get it over with ? If you take a hot shower/bath it will help you to feel better for a little bit..  lesa
