Taper schedule

Hello everyone, I've found that reading these comments helps a lot.  I am new to my withdrawal plan.  I had an epiphany this weekend when after popping 6 oxy 10 mg at a time (and up to 10 a day), that I was heading down a dark path.  I knew I needed to get my life in order and promised myself that was it for me.  On Saturday, I took 2 pills at night, on Sunday I took 1 in the afternoon and 2 at night (I couldn't help myself).  On Monday, I took 1 and 1 and last night I limited myself to only 1.  Tonight is the real test, as I plan to skip a day.  Once I do that, I'll have one the following day, and then keep skipping days until I'm comfortable with it.  Do you think this will be an effective plan?  I am totally committed to this (unlike before).  I'm not even interested in it anymore.  Been taking pain meds for the last 5 years.  Any advice would be helpful.  Also, is depression and anxiety common with using and stopping pain meds?  I've definitely been experiencing that.  Thanks so much.

Thanks so much!  I've been working out a lot lately (3-5 times a week).  It's amazing to see and realize the differences in your body and mind the longer you go without it.  Just like any addiction, I know that the thought will always linger in the back of my mind, much like an alcoholic feels when he hears about or sees others drinking.

I have a neighbor who recently had knee surgery and he was telling some of us about how his doctor gave him "a ton" of Percs, "like 30 or something."  I kept thinking to myself how amazing it is that people can use it temporarily and be done with it.  Also, that he thought 30 pills was "a ton" was funny to me because that would probably have lasted me 2-3 days...

Trying to overcome this addiction may be the hardest thing I've ever had to do.  But it's also made me a lot stronger and have more confidence/less anxiety than when I was on oxy.  It will always be tempting, but as AtTheBeach said, "one day at a time..."

A very big congratulations to you.
2 months clean is awesome.
One day at a time my friend is how it is done.
Yes it is a blessing in disguise. Stay away from those that use.
They will drag you down again.
How's the counseling going?
Did you start meetings?
Thanks for the update.
Keep up the good work.
