Tapering off Hydrocodone, depressed.

Hi everyone.  I was taking 10 to 12 hydrocodone pills a day until recently due to a painful chronic illness.  My doctor put me on morphine pills for the pain, taken twice a day.  They really help.  Of course, I've gone way down on hydrocodone because of that.  I take 2 to 3 a day now.  But I'm trying to taper off of them and it is hard.

I feel very "antsy" a lot of the time, but the worst is the depression.  I've dealt with depression my entire life.  But it has gotten worse these past few days.  Is it because of the hydrododone tapering?

Chemicals suppress your central nervous system.  With these pain killers you do not feel anything.  Your neurons are not working and when you taper down the feeling comes back a little.  Your mind is caught in the middle this causes depression, anxiety, and more pain.  You need to see your Doc. tell them whats going on and maybe they can treat you with the proper meds.  I myself would not use morphine it is dangerous if not used correctly.  Visit NA tell them whats going on you will get some expert advise from some that's been through this.   Get help God bless.

It could be. Opiates supress our natural feel good chemicals. They are synthetic and so our bodies stop producing them. But they will come back with time. Everyone is so different. Not sure if your dealing with chemical depression but have you tried exercising? It kick starts your body into producing saratonine(sp?). Hope this helps a little. I'm only on day 1 but I am so determined to win!!!!
Hang in there. Everyone here knows exactly how you feel.
