Need help with withdrawal symptoms. please.

I've been reading posts for days on help with the symptoms but no one really addresses the freezing sweats and what helps them.  Besides not being able to sleep, that is my least favorite part.

I'm on day four(ish) of my withdrawals. I was seeing my primary care nurse practitioner since March 2nd for low back pain. She put me on Lortab 5/325 and Flexeril. After an mri, diagnosed with disc issues, fibromyalgia, yada yada. Sent to pain management, physical therapist, ortho none of which did anything for me. Finally found a wonderful PT who got my spine moving again after 3 rounds of steroids and is working on leg nerve pain and constant muscle spasms.  NP kept adding meds and changing them until I ended up on Lyrica, Cymbalta, tried Baclofen but got the twitches, Flexeril, Plaquenil, Magnesium, Lortab 10's and Percoset 15's. (I hated perc's because they give me a headache) When she put me on the 15's, I said, "I just want to get off of all of this" she said don't worry, we'll taper you off when we get past all this (with the pt). So the morning of my next appointment August 16th to discuss my anti depressant not working, the office called and said not to come in that they were discharging me from care because I had chosen to fill all the prescriptions NP had written for me.  WHAT???  They wouldn't answer any questions, said they'll send me a letter.

So here I am getting myself off of everything. I called around and 5 other drs in my area refused to see me so I don't have access to any meds that might ease the symptoms.
I'm not really having the need to take a pill, I just can't stand the symptoms in addition to my back and leg pain. I still have plenty of pain meds left with no desire to take them.

Hey Friend,
so glad you are jumping off the pill roller coaster.

you have gotten good advise, the thomas recipe, the supplements and well, be careful with supplements though, some you can't take if you are taking other meds, and although you are off of them I would check.

stay nourished, this is so important, when you can't eat drink Ensure or Boost or herbalife shakes. The anxiety is a monster but it goes away, so stay the course, it will all fade.

hugs,
Lily

You got some good advise. Keep checking back as more members post.

Also, I have a suggestion for you. If you plan on staying off the pain meds you should consider getting rid of your just-in-case. I don't want to see you fall back into the trap and that is so easy to do.

The exercise is great. Also remember to stay hydrated. It is very important during this time. Hang in there.

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. I think I'm at the get off the couch and just go for a walk stage. I don't want to but I'm going to. I think. OK, I'm going to try.

If you've been on here for days, you've heard of the Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid protcol at the bottom right of the forum. I went for a sauna and a swim at the local gym, and it helped for a few hrs of symptoms and increased my detox rate. As much as it hurt, getting my heart rate up helped some as well, trampoline, walking, anything. Most the time I just told myself it's like a fever, it will go away. good job so far.
