Tramadol dosage to quit without wd's

Hi.  Does anyone know what the "jumping off point" would be for Tramadol dosage to avoid wd's?  Example:  3 of the 50mg per day for a week or so and then stop everything?  This would NOT be for long term usage, but rather a post surgery 3 week usage.   The person has a long history of Opiate abuse and was prescribed Norco for over a month.  Then they went to Tramadol for 2 weeks at 7 of the 50mg per day for a week and now 3 per day for the last week. When can they stop without wd's is the question.  I think this is pretty low, but I am not a tramadol expert.  They knew the norco was going to be bad and that is why they switched to tram to get past the worst wd's.  They were taking 8 of the norco 10/325 for 5 weeks and they knew they were in trouble.  Can anyone help me answer this question?   In my mind 3 per day should not be an issue, but I don't know about Tramadol that much.  What can they expect when stopping at 3 per day to Zero?
Thanks

I agree...150mg is too high to jump from IF this person wants to have few wd's.  I would taper way down and not be too anxious; nice and slow in other words.

One thing that's a concern is that dosage. Three at one time is a lot at once with Tramadol so that's the first thing that needs to change and more of a taper will take care of that...

I was having withdrawals on a dose smaller that 150mg a day.  I would get down to as little as possible.  Maybe 25mg a day.  Half tab.  Regardless there will still be some withdrawal but may be more manageable then.  In my opinion 150mg is tough to jump off of on trams.  I have 2 years experience struggling with getting off and finally have passed the physical symptoms... that being said as above everyone is different and will experience this in their own way.

Unfortunately there is no clear cut black and white answer for something like this.  Some people are able to jump off at significant doses with little to no w/d, and others can experience moderate to severe w/d even after tapering down to a miniscule dose.  Tramadol has the added issue of increased mental symptoms because of the antidepressant quality.  Some people find that harder than the physical stuff.

Your friend is really going to have to just see how he/she does.  They could try to jump off at the 3 pills, or continue to taper down lower.  Hopefully the w/ds won't last long as he/she wasn't on these meds too too long, but having a history of addiction, they likely have detoxed numerous times before, which can intensify w/d symptoms each time a person goes through it.

Why not tell your friend to make an account and post?  Good luck to them!

Update.  They said they are taking the 3 all at once at 3pm.  They are fine all day long but are worried about not sleeping, rls and anxiety at bedtime.  I completely understand that fear all to well.  Thanks
