Transitioning from dope to Suboxone soon and need advise!!!

Hey there,

This is my first time on this site and it I would love to be able to have some support going through what I'm about to do.  I am in my mid twenty's and have been addicted to opiates for a a few years and my life has basically been on hold since I've been dealing with this...

I have been on methadone for a while and really hated it and wanted to become drug free...I spent quite some time trying to taper down from 80mg and got as far as 22mg but had the most difficult time and never felt well.  After some consideration I decided to go off methadone and use dope for a little over a month before switching to suboxone for a week or less in hopes of becoming completely drug free.  (I have detoxed from methadone before cold turkey and after experiencing such horrible withdrawls for about 3 weeks I decided that I wanted to transition to heroin (smoking only) for atleast a month before trying to stop completely)

Anyways, I'm hoping to get some advise on how to successfully use Suboxone for a week to get off of opiates altogether.  I use about a half gram of H per day.  Please help!!  I want this to be the last time I EVER have to go through this again!!  I am so ready to move on with my life and be completely drug free!!!

**By the way, do you think that a month of using dope is enough time to get the methadone out of my system so I can do this detox successfully?

Thank you so much!!!

Lillian

I'm so glad you both found this site. I used speedballs in the 70s but came here to detox from 6 years of hydro and oxy. I have seen several people talk about using sub for 7 days and seemed happy about thier progress toward the last few days. Any time we go through wd our addict mind will tell us that using will make us feel better. But picking up again has put me back in wds again everytime.
I went on a fab vacation to see my brother I havent seen in 22 years this past summer. I could have seen him sooner if my priority hadn't been having enough dope.
Welcome to you journey back to a good life!!!
My little guy and I are going to pray for you right now.

woah...this all sounds a bit familiar!
i've just come off 65mil of meth,(1 month now)and after2 weeks i got tested and the result was negative,so yes..after 30 days it should be out of your system,BUT...you may still experience some WD symptoms for longer.
I've been using dihydracodiene to fight the withdrawel pain but all i'm really doing is dragging out some kind of cold turkey eventually.Although saying that..i just wanted the methadone done and gone out of my body,I've also relapsed recently on H which just knocks me back about 3-4 days of more cold turkey, withdrawel etc etc..
I don't know what to advise really,do what you gotta do,but taper taper taper until eventually you gonna have to cold turkey for a few days??
