Trying to quit Tramadol

I read the importance of obtaining online support and I NEED help. I've been taking tramadol since 2011 due to a car accident. I was run over a vehicle, leaving my spine with herniated discs and ever since that tragedy happened I've been on tramadol. I started with 50 mg a day and now I am embarrassed to admit a take even to 1,000 mg a day (a little less sometimes). I realize I have a problem and I need to get off these pills, enough is enough for me, especially because I really want to get pregnant and I can't do it if I'm consuming these pills. Can someone please give me some advise or tips? In december 2014 I ran out of Tramadol and I had the worst days ever, in fact I fell asleep while driving on the freeway and collide with another vehicle. The most horrific night ever, sweating a lot, could not sleep a minute and of course I went back to tramadol. Can someone please tell me HOW to quit tramadol?

Welcome to the forum~
You can definitely be free.....you just have to want it more than anything else in your life.  There's lots of support here, so ask all the questions you may have and post as often on your thread as you need to.

Here's the link that Ruthy55 mentioned above.  It's a great place where Tramadol Warriors come together to help one another.  Check it out...and please let us know how you're doing~

There is a Tramadol site on here. In the upper right corner of this page search for Tramadol and Ultram recovery room. It's all Tramadol advice and support. You must taper with your Drs supervision. Some taper on their own but you should come clean with your family and Dr to do this right so you will have a support network to come along side you.

I'm with sarah...you need to talk to a doctor.  Even if you're getting the pills from someone else, TELL YOUR PHYSICIAN.

You cannot even begin to think about getting pregnant until you get off these horrible drugs.  Please...brave up and tell your doc.  He/She has heard this story a million times...the opiate addiction in this country is epidemic.

Good luck,

Are you getting them from a doctor?  You need to talk with your doctor and have him/her give you a taper schedule.  These arent something you just stop due to the side effects. You can get off these and start living again.  We are here to help.
