Hi
I too am trying to wean off Ultam(tramadol) I was on about 1000mg and have managed to get down to about 400mg but find the physical WD symtoms hard to go any lower. Anyway Private message "avisg" - that is her screen name - do a search if you have to. I think she advised me that you aim to drop 1 tab/week ie drop dose then stay on that dose for a weekfor your body to adjuct then drop again (stair method) I had aprob as I don't think I have enough meds to cover that so I aim to find a sympathetic med dr that will help me wean. Herbal stuff like valerian/calcium vit B etc help (read advice on forum) It DOES take time to WD from ultram (sorry) Check out the Thomas recipe (menu on the right) Good luck. You wanna be free and WE WILL be feeling better. Also I have started to see a therapst to assist in the emotional/psych reasons for my addiction as support after the physical symptoms fade. Take care
Be really careful with ultram I was on it for 5 months and keep uping my dosage until I was at 14 pills a day and totally out of no where I was eating out and I had a seizure. I woke up in an ambulance I had no idea what had happen, but when my friend told me I was foaming at the mouth my eyes rolled in the back of my head my arm was going out of control. I had never had a seizure before or after, I had never even fainted. So they took me to the ER and because the medic's had found me unconscious they tell the ER doc and the doc legally has to report it to the DMV who inturn took my DL (which i had to go through MANY tests to prove i am not Epileptic, and of course I am not) the doctors now know it was a result of taking too much ultram. So please cut down on your dose because I had no warning that was going to happen I felt fine right before it happened. I might add I normally have a high torrerance to meds. Sorry about the long story my advice- look in the phone book to a local psychiatry office most have addiction specialist and because they are in physciatrist office they can give you the correct meds and amounts for getting off ultram. You dont have to feel embarrassed, many people have addictions and they have heard it all. They are there to help you without judgement. GOOD LUCK get help and you will be ok!!!
or if you find a post with avisg you scroll over her name and it will give you the box with send message click it and just send her a message. get back to me if you cannt figure it out. she is the best taper maker here.

I would absolutely LOVE if someone could give me a taper schedule!!!! I have been taking about 14-15 50mg pills daily and I only have 35 left?? can someone please give me a tapering schedule that might actually work??????? That's exactly what I've been looking for!!!! I tapered myself off of xanax a year ago so I know I can do it I just need the info to do it!!!!!
Thank you
you do have to taper off ultrams because it can cause seizures going c/t. look in the health pages and you will see the thomas receipe. it has great info in it. you can do this, it is not easy but many here have done it. it did not take ultrams i took oxy and i got off c/t as they dont cause seizures. if you hang around someone with ultram experience will answer you. if you pm avisg, she can help you a taper schedule...if you tell her how many a day you have been taking and how many you have to taper with. good luck and keep posting
