Ultram weaning help

Hi,
I have been on 300mg of Ultram or Ultram ER for 10 years for fibromyalgia & arthritis pain. I have come to believe the side effects or drug itself have caused many other problems and want to try to stop taking it to see what happens. I am down to one 100mg ER pill a day and am handling it fairly well as far as withdrawals.

Where should I go from here? The 50mg pills have an up and down effect on me, so I tend to use more but was planning on trying one in the AM, and one PM at first, then trying to cut out the PM one. But, since I've been on it so long, how long should I do this?

Also, can you cut the 50mg in half?

Thanks for any and all help. I've been doing this on my own and just found this board today :).

while i was pregnant my doctor weaned me down to a very small dose of suboxone, and this is the way he did it(made it super easy for me)

1 - cut the dose you are taking into 4 times a day by cutting the pill. ( i don't know how big those pills are but maybe get the smaller dose like you are saying and cut those in half.
do this for 4 days.
2 -  then take one dose away but still split it evenly among the day. like 9 am- 2 pm - 7pm
do this for another four days
3 - take another dose away and so on till you are on the smallest dose or off it completely.
this method worked great for me, i had withdrawals but not so bad i couldn't stand it. it was much easier than i made it out to be.

Good luck. another thing is to keep busy. the more you think about it the harder it is do wean. If you keep busy or distracted it's alot easier.
