I'm not familiar with that one. The active ingredient you're looking for is dextromethoraphan. In regular doses, it helps rls some. You may have some in your medicine cabinet in cough syrup. Now....I'm not saying to drink the bottle or anything!!!!  Just a dose!

Did you get him to try some nyquil?  Hylands leg cramps is a little different than hylands restful legs. It has quinine in it and may help a little more???  I don't know. It may take a little trial and error to get it right since everyone is so different. Hylands leg cramps literally saved my life during detox!  That, and a heating pad!

8 days out, and he still has really restles legs.  I pad the foot of the bed so he doesn't hurt himself.  the hylands really haven't done anything for him.  will get the tonic water and alkaseltzer flu formula tomorrow on pay day.

I also have been breaking a 10 year norco habit.  For me the restless legs were horrible.  Today is my 12th day clean.  Two things helped me more than anything else:  bananas and Tonic Water.  The tonic water has quinine in it and that helps with restless legs.  Someone here told me about it.

Something else that has helped is the alka seltzer flu formula.  During my first 5 days I took it twice a day.  I'm now taking it once a day.  I get a LOT of sneezing - I was told that's a sign of detox so I guess I'm still detoxing.

Good luck.  He can do this.

Its the wd wave. Its what I call it. Each day the waves get further and futher apart. Time is really the only thing that helped me out.

you guys were in here when i kicked it nearly 4 years ago.  unfortunately, i had to haaaave 2 back surgeries, and am on som strong stuff.  they tried to put me on methadone, and i told them i would never take that stuff again if it meant i had to face the pain with nothing/1111  i know when the time comes, that i will have to wd from all the stuff they have me on.  norco, percocet.opana and valium.  quite a mixed bag.  my dr had been in a bad accident and had to use pain pills and detox himself, so he is in my side about slowly detoxing one at a ime til i get it through.  the pai is still very real from the surgeries though now. so we are trying to find the right time to get off.  i have ibs so can't take any nsaids orrally.  we found a way to get them onboard that i think will be a great help.  i disolve them in water, just enough to cover them and might have to smash them a little, then i mix them with a thick hand cream, gold bond is the best, put a glove on and rub it in directly over the pain site.  it really helps and is a lot less expensive than the prescription form.  my pharmacist told me how to make it.  he is the old fashioned kind who will mix what is needed if neccessary. to say the less after my 31 day methadone wds, i am deathly afraid to start my wds now.  for now, i can't face the pain without help, and that is not a crap-out. it's the truth.  my muscles are not healing right. two surgeries in exactly the same spot in a 6 week period.  they are just insulted.

For one, we notice it more at night cause we are trying to be still. That's when it bothers us the most!  I commend you for kicking methadone. Ouch!!!  Thats not easy. Remember that everyone is different also. No two detoxes are the same.  He should be feeling better tomorrow. Tell him to try some nyquil tonight with the hylands. That helped my rls quite a bit!

As you know, NOTHING is like kicking Methadone so expect his withdrawal to be milder. Good grief he must have been kicking to break the bed! To be honest, Hylands did not work for me so I cannot give you advise on it. See if they have a website where perhaps you can look it up. Also, be patient here. A lot of members are busy with the holidays so it is quiet.

In the meantime, see if a nice hot shower would not help him or even a heating pad on his calves. Those are two things that did ease it a bit for me.

BTW, how are you holding up? How much clean time do you have now?

it's just nothing like i had when i kicked methodone cold turkey.  it was 24/7 with that stuff, and that is what i was expecting for him.  not that i wanted that for him, i am thrilled that it seems easier.  his rls has been so bad though he broke th bed, and that is with the hylands.  how uch of that can he take.  he is a 300 lb man.
