can't stop shaking...

I shattered my humerus and elbow 15months ago and was given painkillers.  It all started very innocently enough, I was actually taking less than prescribed!  Last week, I devoured 80 ES pills.  I have been reading various posts throughout the day and I'm realizing that this will only get worse for me and I can no longer continue this lifetyle.

This is my 2nd time experiencing vicodin wd, the last time I didn't make it through day 4.  I've had 1 pill in the last 24 hrs, mostly because I needed something for these horrible shakes!  I've already experienced the chills and sweats and the involuntary arm and leg movements but I'd like to know from anyone out there what else I can expect in the upcoming days and weeks?  I am reaching out to others with the hope that I won't start using again because I really want to be free of these pills once and for all.  Like most of you, I'm sick and tired of constantly wondering if I have enough or where I am going to find more.

Thanks to anyone who can give me advice!

Like R2R said, Try to get some Clonodine from your doctor.
Hang in there, Its just a few days of the bad flu and you can do it. If you had a real flu, you'd make it, right? So this you can do too. Keep posting, we'll be here for you.

No your not imagining the pain . It does get worse during withdrawal. The heat pack will help. I have heard others use Nyquil, so if it helps.  You will probably have restless legs , trouble sleeping, runny nose, sneezing and of course diarea. These are all typical symptoms and should start to ease up on day 4 or 5.  You will feel like you have a bad flu.  I bet work will take one look at you and send you home.Keep posting and reading here. It will help.  Hang in there, this is all worth it.

thats to you all for the advice!  I was actually worried that my doc would want me to go off of my antidepressants before prescribing me anything to help with the wd's.  I would like to get more info about some other wd symptoms because I am a hypochondriac by nature.  For instance, I am having absolutely debilitating lower back pain, I'm actually working with a heating pad on right now.  Is this a normal symptom?  Also, is it safe to take nyquil to go to sleep?  I had to last night, I was at my wits end!

I think being honest with your doc is best, and maybe he can put you on clonodine...
I used it and it helped so much..
I am over 5 months clean, for me i did ok, until day 3 to 5...They were my worst, then day 6 was a hugh difference, everyone is different.
I took vitamins and lexapro.....Drink lots of fluids, and of course the hot hot baths...

I just want to warn you, not saying it'll happen that way, but you asked.  It could take longer for w/d to go away.  I'm not the only one like I thought at first.  Even if things do get better in the first week, you may have some s/s after that for a while.  Just wanting you to know it can be that way 'cause I felt hugely dissapointed when I wasn't better when so many people were.  I too sweat out the bottoms of my feet and my hands too, I never did before.  There are so many possible s/s, I'd list 'em if you really want, but I don't wanna freak you out.  Everyone's different, I'd take it a day at a time.  I don't have to work through this, but I've read alot of people's stories about doing it that way.  Some take sick time, some start w/d on a Friday and are back on the Monday.  I'm sure someone'll be here to help you with the ins and outs of this. I wish I could help more.  Please stay with it.  No matter what, you do not wanna face this later, with more **** in your system, trust me on that.    - Jacqui

from what I've been reading it might be beneficial to go to my doc about getting something to help these wd symptoms?  I can't miss work (I've missed enoguh do to surgeries and specialists) but yet I absolutely cannot concentrate today.  Honestly, I can barely even type and everything seems to have a haze around it!  Not to mention this disgusting sweating, I am actually sweating out of my feet!  So, I've made an appt with him this afternoon to discuss putting me on something temporarily to help with this anxiety and restlessness.  From what I've been reading, Valium may be best? Any thoughts?

It's up to you. Do you really want to quit? I now realize how much I used the low dosage that I was taking; I took them for years, just to get through the day. From my experience and from reading the post, the withdraws last from 2 to 5 days. If you decide you really want to quit you can, lean on the people here they can and will help you through it.
