thanks for getting back to me. and yes ive been going to the methadone clinic for two years and my doctor knows about my methadone. im on 20 mgs. i have been doing everything i can to  be in a good place when i get off of everything. taking vitmains, writting in my journal what to do when i get cravings things of that nature. i know what u r talking about when u say u forget about being an addict when u r on the methadone treatment.  when i got down to 10 mgs i got all those old feelings back from when i used pills. it was very surreal. plus i felt normal and that is defintly an abnormal feeling for an addict. ty again for getting back to me.

Hey there.  I'm not familiar with methodone to suboxone transition.  I started suboxone coming off oxycodone years ago.  Obviously your suboxone doc knows your currently on methadone right?? I am pretty sure you have to be completely off methadone for a few days before starting the suboxone, but check with the doctor first obviously.  If the suboxone works the way its suppose to -- i.e. the way it works for people coming off high doses of other forms of opiates (oxy or H) then you should be fine within a half hour of taking it.  Your supposed to take it in moderate withdrawal.. within half hour, withdrawal will go away.  It took me about a week to get use to it.  It made me pretty headach-ey and nauseaus at first - but anythign was better than w/drawal (at the time).  The key to suboxone is taking just ENOUGH to make you feel NORMAL.  Not high.  Not sick.  But normal.  For a user, Normal is an extremely ABnormal feeling.. So be wary of that.  All in all you should be ok to work the weekend.  Usually the doctor will administer the first dose in office to get you to the proper mgs.

My biggest warning about suboxoen at this point, having used it long term and come off of it, is to tell people to work recovery while using it.  For me (and many others) sub really throws you into remission.  Rare cravings after the first month.  You almost forget your an addict.  BUT all that BS is waiting for you when you come off suboxone.  You cn go from feeling 100% 'recovered' to day 1 in no time. Its a great chance to work a recovery program and get ready for the future.  Best of luck.
