Scared of Lortab Withdrawals

I have been taking Lortabs recreationally for the past 7 mths. It started innocently when my mom gave me one because I was sore after moving some furniture. After that it was sporadic, maybe 1 every once in a while...that didn't last long though. Then it went 1 everyday, then 2 everyday. For the past few months it has fluctuated to 30-40 mg everyday. I don't have my own script and I haven't been buying off the street, but I have been felching them from my mothrers purse. I decided it was time to stop. I'm tired of sneaking pills. No one knows that I've been taking them. My moms script has run out and she probably won't refill since her doctor put her on pain patches instead. I know my problem seem like small potatoes compared to some of the other things I've read on here...I'm still scared though. I don't want anyone in my family to find out. I have a small son and its usually just me caring for him since my husband works evenings. I've read what the withdrawals can be like and I don't want my son witnessing some of them ie irritability, depression. As of this writing its been nearly 24hrs since my last pill. The only things I've experienced so far is a crying jag last night, drug craving and feeling restless. Will my symptoms get worse? Or is the small doses and timeframe moderate enough to prevent full blown withdrawals?

I agree with the ladies. You are lucky to want to stop now. My pill frenzy led to a full blown heroin addiction. I have 4 kids under the age of 9. You havent been taking that much so your withdrawls should be minimal. But you have to ignore that craving. It will get you everytime. You have to see that you can end up losing everything to you addiction and thats not what you want. Stop now while your ahead. Best of luck to you.

You are so smart to get out now!  Eventually,  the pills turn on you and no longer improve mood.  The real energy is so much better than the false.  When I have cravings, I do tea, chocolate or deep breathing.  Some say honey or molasses.  Find what works for you and stick to it :)

Thank you so much for the well wishes and words of advice. I'm feeling pretty good at the moment. I think what I fear worse is the drug craving. I know why I like taking the Lortabs...I love the mood lift and energy I feel while I'm on it. To try and combat a relapse I went out and got some B Complex and St. Johns Wort. I'm hoping that by taking the vitamins that I will feel "better" naturally and won't feel the need to seek anymore pills.

Hi! To answer your question, after 24  hours, you should be feeling what the worst will feel like.  Some people have it get worse after that, but in my experience, this is about as bad as it will get. For you, no longer than you used and at not a high dose, you probably won't have it bad at all.  Give it a day or two, and you will feel better.  I agree with not reading the horror stories and getting that in your head.  Every person is different.  You will feel much better in a day or two.  Take lots of hot baths and move around as much as you can.  Drink plenty of fluids.  Leave whatever questions you have on here! : )  We will help ya!

Hi Whatever :)
Everyone is different so don't let some of the horrifying detox stories get in your head!  I know it's frightening, but honestly the fear is worse than the process. 24 hours is huge!  I spent many a days crying in the shower.  My child watched more television than I care to admit during this time but it was educational and gave me a break.
I cleaned so much while listening to music to help with restlessness.   It was short spurts and then I would relax with a cup of tea.  If you are feeling decent physically I suggest pushing yourself a little bit so you will bounce back faster.
Sending you big hugs and an easy detox.
