The med texts say that while the worst is USUALLY over in 7-14 days (not for me so far at day 17), you can have s/s for weeks, and many complain of severe pervasive anxiety for up to 6 mos. If you have the luxury of a doc, a decent doc, they'll help you. Valium (diazepam) is often the best treatment for this problem. It works best and is way less addictive than the other benzodiazapines (like: Xanax {alprazolam}, Ativan {Lorazepam}). Chloral hydrate can also be prescribed, or the antihypertensive agent Clonidine (provided your BP is o.k.). Only one of these treatment options, not 2 or three. I'm having a ***** of a time here, so I can totally relate with the severe anxiety and leg issues besides other s/s.
I have been clean for 11 months. It took me 2 weeks to get over the really major withdrawals and a few months to get my energy and sleep back. I think it has a lot to do with how long and how much you used. I still to this day have some aches that will feel like withdrawals again. And I have had trouble sleeping for years, I guess I'm just getting old (41). It does take time, I don't care what anyone says the depression last a while too. Just keep fighting through, you have come so far. You don't want to trade one pill for another but maybe you need something for aniexty or depression for a little while. I had to take ambien for about 6 months so I could sleep and have some energy. I don't take anything but an advil from time to time now and don't want anything. Be strong. Keep posting and reading this forum is the best. It got me through some very dark times last year.
33 days and you still have rls? Hun, I gotta suggest that you go and get a good check-up. You should not have these many symptoms after a month.
