Will You All Accept My Thanks for Your Help

Dear Group:

I have been lurking on this site for quite some time now and I have learned so very much for each and every one of you.

I am taking my meds per the prescription but I was so concerned about becoming addicted that I located this site
early this year.

My post is really not so much of a question as it is a Thank You to so many people whose posts
I have gained benefits from.

Because of all of your posts which I have been avidly reading for the past 3 months I have become bound and determined that I will work, work, and work even harder not to go over my prescribed amount of pain meds.

I am allergic to NSAIDS, deathly allergic, not just getting a rash, so I have had to take Vicodin 10/660 now for 15 years.  Four months ago I was taking 6 per day as prescribed, but not I have decreased that to 4 per day.  And, without being on this site I do not believe that I would have even thought of attempting this lower amount.

So, thank you all so very much!   Like I said previously, I have been lurking here for awhile and can't say enough great things about this site and the people (you of course) who have helped me immensely without any knowing it.

Thank you so very much,

Suda

So, what I am understanding from your post is that it does help you with your pain management a bit.

It would be a blessing, pure and simple if it would help alleviate even a bit of my pain.  It would be a double blessing if it helped with my anxiety.

I so appreciate your thoughts on this medicine.

I have had extreme trouble with so many of the medicines I have been prescribed to help with the abatement of pain.

I do hope this will work.  Please keep your fingers crossed for me, as I will for you that it continues to help you as it has so far.

Thank you,

Suda

It helps with anxiety during detox/mostly helps with sleep...when i first started taking the drug...it made me sleepy and i would sleep like a rock...so i only took my night dose as i work...ur body adjusts to it tho and the sleepiness goes away...i still only take 300 mg at night but could take it 3 x a day as prescribed...it seems to work well for pain and muscle tightness...give it a week or so to get the drift on it as it does not start working overnight...the sleepiness goes away..i am very sensitive to anything that makes u sleepy...it interferes with the nerve conduction of pain

I do believe you are the one I noticed discussing neurontin.  So, it does seem to work well for you?  From everything I've read of your missives it sounds like it is an excellent medicine for you.

Are you the person who has fibromyalgia and lupus also?  Whatever you have to take it for, it works.

I am so hoping that this will work for me.  I have had very dangerous reactions to so very many medicines I have tried to help alleviate my pain and anxiety.

Do you notice it helps you with your pain?  What about anxiety?  Anything?

I have researched this medicine as I research every medicine prescribed for me and I do know that even if it works well for you it may not for me, but I do so hope it helps.

Thank you,

Suda

I do so appreciate this information.  As I stated earlier I shall be trying this neurontin within the next few days.  I do so hope that it will help alleviate some of my pain as well as some of this anxiety.

I have lupus, fibromyalgia, and now....parkinsons has been thrown into the mix.  What fun failing health is...blah!!!

Therefore, I am really, really hoping for the best when I do begin my ingesting of this neurontin.

Years ago I took it for migraines but it didn't help me at all for that malady.  Hopefully it will do the trick for the pain of the fibromyalgia and some of this anxiety.

But, no matter, I must reiterate......so many of you people on this site have helped me so very, very much without even knowing it.

I must imagine that I am not alone in this benefiting from all your expertise in these matters.  I feel that as long as I have been lurking I have always wondered just how many 100's of others are lurking still and will be thanking you for something you didn't even know you were doing.  It's a mitzva!!!

Thank you,

Suda

I've been taking neurontin (gabapentin) for several years, for a nerous system damage condition. It gives me some relief. A for side affects, none that I can say. Completely non - habit forming in my use, and I've been taking 1600mg daily for many years. I honestly don't feel any affects from it. In my opinion, it is a safe drug.

My wife was prescribed neurotin for severe hip pain. She had a total hip replcacement after falling down some basement stairs 5 yrs ago Feb. Believe it or not tripped over a cat, HUGE CAT ! Her right leg is 1 inch shorter than the left and there is an issue with nerves. They also gave her a TENS unit that applies electric shock to the areas of pain and relaxes the muscles around the area.

These are working for now and beat the H**** out of the vicodin and valium.
Good Luck and God Bless

I don't know if I shall ever be able to take zero pain meds, for all the others I have tried do no good at all, or I have such severe side effects that I have to cease and desist taking them.

I have a new prescrition for neurontin and I will be trying that within the next few days, but with all my previous disasterous trials with so many other medications I can only hope I don't have a severe reaction to this neurontin.

I did read that one of the regulars on this site takes neurontin and has had success with this med for pain and/or anxiety control.  To whomever that person was/is:   I would appreciate any information on just how this medication worked for you, and what medical problem it was prescribed to you for.

Thanks again,

Suda
