I have been planning my "Get Off Suboxone" ordeal the past couple weeks. I have been doing a lot of research bc I'm home alone with my 4 year Daughter and suffer from depression, anxiety, and bi-polar disorder. My husband is in Prison so I have no support. Sorry; not relevant, Anyways, I have read several articles that suggest Depakote as a withdrawl remedy. My ex and my neighbor both have told me that they were BOTH given Divalproex Sodium, while in rehab. I see many going in about its for this and it's for that, but I've studies nursing and know well enough, that medication can have several purposes. The most active prescribed illness is what we are seeing g when research this drug. The
Epilepsy, Mania , Bi-Polar, and Migraine prevention, are most common associated with depakote. In most cases withdrawl symptoms consist of..The first 72 hours being the worst. (Depending on severity of your addiction. After 72 hours symptoms should start subsiding. 1 week of Body aches and pains, Insomnia, & Mood Swings. (A mood stablizer would come in handy and maybe prevent depression. And I'm sure there is some kind of pain reliever in there somewhere.) ;) 2 Weeks of Depression and irritatibility. (Find a hobby. Design your week so that you are active more than not, eating lightly, pick up a new hobby, visit family, etc and you need to be up showered in the am right before the sun rises. Drink a cup of hot ginseng/green tea. If you cannot eat a light breakfast, grab a protein shake and/or a banana. 1 Month of Cravings and Depression.Therapy is your key to follow through. Choose therapy according to your Inearest and hobbies. And write motivational quotes around your room/house. It's going to be hard, but you can do this. (I didn't check the date of the question so assuming it's recent, good luck to you.)
Anyways, I do believe depakote may end up being beneficial.
My experience with depakote was before my addiction.... and I am not bi-polar but I was put on it due to mis diagnosis...but I gained MASSIVE amounts of weight before I knew it. I mean 60lbs in 3months... and the dr's were dumbfounded...as if it wasn't the depakote...and they never tested my liver or told me it needed to be tested. As you can see I am not a big fan... but I did want to warn you of the weight gain....not sure how long you have been on it.

Its good to know that there is a site like this. I've tried detoxing before, obviously I failed.
My mind seems to turn from my best friend into a nightmare of restlessness and anxiety. Thanx to everyone who cared enough to reply, I'll be back to this site from time to never ending time.
It is for seizuires and its also used as a mood stablizier .It wont work for wd and its not an antidepresant either.
well it may help with the depression associated with the w/d? Just not widely used. It can make you quite drowsy, so may actually help w/the insomnia assoc w/ withdrawl. It is pretty hard on the liver, so be careful with this med. I think i'd just try to stick to the Klonopin at the dose you have and only take this as an absolute last resort.
Depakote is a drug for bi-polar and seizures. It won't help opiate withdrawls at all.
