a question on a possible new adiction for me

ok so those who know me know i was really talking up that seriquil pill to help with detox, the hospital gave me those 4 to get away from the withdrawals and yea it did help, but weird coincidence here, i had an appointment with a psychiatrist the other day to help with my ocd and anxiety disorder and he has put me on two medications, and 1 of them is seriquil 100mg xr and i just wanna know cuz someone copy/ pasted a page on this drug, and told me it was bad and so i read up on it on wiki and it said it is a recreational drug and heavily abused in jails and prisons, what i want to know is, is this going to become another addiction? i told my new psych that im not sure i want this pill bcuz of what i read on this forum about it and he said it is really beneficial for ocd and anxiety, so i started taking it last night, and man was it hard to get up in the morning i am so tired, dose n e one know if this would be bad for an addict to start taking daily?  and please if you know it for sure post but if your gona just copy and paste somthing dont bother i have already read everything on the web about it but cant find n e thing on an addiction to it, so im guessing there isnt one, but i just wanna make sure
well sorry if i make n e one p-ssed about posting about this drug again, but its weird to me there throwing me on it, and really want and need an answer to this question, and if anyone else has been on it what did you feel like, im just so stoned out and tiered like i smoked a dube or something and soooooo tierd 20 minutes after i took it last night i was out like a light, so bcuz its xr will i have times throughout the day i just fall asleep?
thank you

Hi,
My doctor gave me Seroquil to help sleep during the withdrawals, and then prescribed it to help with anxiety and panic attacks as well.  He is my Suboxone doctor and will not give me anything with a potential for abuse.  It does make you tired at first, real tired.  Now I take them about 8 pm at night, go to bed about 11 pm, and am wide awake the next morning.  Maybe you just have to get used to it.  It's never made me feel high or drunk, just sleepy and a little more calm.  Good luck :)

Oh, I have ocd, ptsd, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and phobias, I'm doing very well with this stuff these days with therapy, the right meds, and I talk on the anxiety and ocd forums on here. You can message me anytime if you wanna talk :)

I was on this during/after my last alcohol withdrawal for sleep. It did make me buzzy before it knocked me out, maybe that's what gives it abuse potential, I don't know, it wasn't any buzz I liked or wanted. Plus I gained 65lbs in 6 months on it. I had no trouble coming off, a couple days of weaning. That's my story with it, I didn't even know it had abuse potential.

Hey...it's all in how it makes YOU feel. If you feel stoned or not right on it then let the doctor know.  You may need a decrease in dose or another med. Just because you have OCD doesn't mean you have to feel like this. It really isn't addicting but it has a lot of side effects...I would rather take something else like Paxil which is also prescribed for OCD issues.  None of these drugs are without side effects but, again, you need to feel okay taking them. Talk with the doctor...and as always...if a drug makes you feel sick you can always stop taking it. There's no law and it's your body!!
