Could it be the Clonodine ?

Hello..

On day 4 of detox, my doctor gave me some Clonodine because my BP was 160/112 and my pulse was well over 100 ..

Yesterday it was still high .. dont remember.. Pulse was just under 100

I have only checked my pulse once today .. about 5 minutes ago.. its now 58 ...

The dose of clonodine is .1mg x 4 times per day ..

I can tell you that I dont deserve a pulse of 58 for health reasons.. lol.

I have another appointment tomorrow, should I reduce before then ? or wait to be told ?  I dunno..

Mr. Lucky..

I got the Clonodine on day 4 .. I went cold turkey with no assistance at all until day 4

On day 4, I called a Private drug councilor and made an appointment.

On the phone, she asked me a series of questions about detox.. Then she told me I had to see my doctor that day, or go to ER..

When I saw the doc, she just treated the outrageous high BP..

The first day I actually took .2 mg of clondine..
On day 5, my BP had not reduced and pulse was still over 100 .. so she said double it..

I see her again tomorrow.  Second half of the day, I went back to half dose.. until I see her, I will keep it there.

I'll just say this, these doctors who just give clonidine for serious withdrawals (more than hydro), are only using half a treatment. Doctors who really know how to detox serious addicts give another drug or 2 with the clonidine. all the best

Hi Trying Hard - welcome to the forum.  Advice on doses of medication should really not be given by those on the forum, it should really come from your doctor.  I am the same age as you and I was also given clonidine during my detox - I can tell you from my own experience that the dose I was on was .2mg/day.  I am not sure if the clonidine has an effect on your pulse, but it will definitely reduce the blood pressure.  I would personally wait until your appointment tomorrow and ask your doctor.  Congratulations on your detox and for quitting.  Keep posting on your progress.
