Hey there! Sounds like you are doing a great job tapering your dose down. The key here is to go slow and get down to as low of a dose as you can to lessen the withdrawal symptoms some. Of course there will still be symptoms, but they won't be as severe as if you went cold turkey. Unfortunately they will be much more dragged out. That's why a lot of folks just give up on a taper. They get to the point where they are having withdrawal symptoms and figure they might as well stop completely and get it over with. I agree with Rosy. Keep your mind and body as busy as possible. The less time you have to dwell on how bad you feel or might feel, the better off you will be. This is a major battle of the mind at times. I recommend lots of funny TV and movies, lots of your favorite music blasted loudly (on headphones if necessary!), lots of walks outside, and lots of good chats when you are feeling under the weather or blue. Post, post, post. Go to a NA meeting. Call a sober friend. Just reach out because it really helps. Keep on fighting, you are doing a great job. We are here for you my friend any time you need us. Take care of yourself, keep your head up, and try to keep in mind that his is temporary. Things will get better and you will have your life back soon. It feels good to be free!
I was so "dependent" I didn't think I could live without them. Alot of it is mental! Yea the physical part is NO fun but its the mental stuff that really wreaks havoc. Try and KEEP BUSY! Anything to keep your mind off of it! You can do this!
