Oh ouch ya that's a big dose, but it is doable. I wasn't on nearly that high of a dose but I did take the oxy daily for a 11 years straight. My w/d's sucked, but you just have to tell yourself it will get better. Over and over and over again. Also I'd deff make a aftercare plan. The emotional stuff is the hard part. Also I work in a bar/restaurant. I've never had an issue with relapse because of it. But I do work in the kitchen, and I don't ever ever drink. Being a bar tender might be different. Just be careful,it's very easy to switch addictions.

Hi,
That's lots of oxy!  I was taking on most days about 150 mg.
I tapered down slowly till about 30 mg, then jumped off.
At only about 47 days clean, it's still no picnic, but the freedom is wonderful!
Good advice from everyone to ask someone to give you the pulls everyday.
I've been going to NA, and it does help.  They say at the meeting its for people who want to get clean , or are clean now.  Maybe that would help?

Hi honey:

I just want to understand...was your daily usage 8 mg of 30 roxy's/day.  So 240 mgs a day?

That is a high dose and withdrawals will be strong...we cannot give tapering advice, but that being said, if you can get your daily intake down to under 100 mgs a day, your withdrawals MIGHT not be as severe.

Couple of pieces of advice:

1. Having someone hold your pills is a good idea...as long as they don't cave in on you if you beg them for more.
2. Can you take a week off of work, so that you can get through the physical symptoms in a way that allows you to be comfortable?
3. You work in a bar...careful...don't use alcohol to cope with withdrawals; i will backfire on you very badly, and prolong the withdrawals.

Finally:  Once you've gotten clean, how do you plan on staying that way...have you though about going to N/A, A/A, Smart Recovery, etc?   You could start going now if you want to...you do not have to be clean to go to a meeting; the only requirement is the desire to stop using.

Working at a restaurant/bar means you will probably always be able to find someone with drugs...you need a plan on how to cope with the cravings and triggers...

Good luck honey..pls come back and tell us how you are doing, and remember:  the withdrawals aren't fun, but they are usually NOT life threatening, and everyone has to go through them.
Blissfully, they are temporary.

Congratulations on your decision to quit; it is a very smart choice.

Hugs,
-Robin

I was never able to taper however I've seen many people on here who were.  I just didn't have the self discipline and I felt that it was easier just to have a week or two feeling really horrible than several weeks feeling slightly so.

Many of the people on here who taper successfully did have someone hold their pills and dole them out at the correct time.

It's not easy.  It's something that will require lifestyle adjustments.  Working in a bar probably isn't a good idea.  To do this right you'll probably need a support system and help.   Holding pills will help.  It's ***** and sorry you're dealing with this. I know the feeling.   I hated tapering, it felt like I was prolonging the agony
