I am new here too and also tapering off hydrocodone. I was up to at least 20 7.5's a day and I am down to 10 a day and tapering from there. You have found the best place for support. Also, I smoked pot for years and I don't think it helps w/your anxiety (i quit years ago) I think it's burning your brain cells and if it did you like it did me it is making you a little paranoid which is increasing your anxiety. If you ever just want to talk send me a message and I will try and be all the support I can.....I understand where you are at right now!

You have taken a very good step in getting on this forum. I'm very new to it, but in a few days of reading these posts, I have found more knowledge of addiction, and more support, than I had imagined existed in one place. Even though you may have started at a young age, many others likewise did so. Many others have quit using. You write as though you have a pretty good head. Use it. Look through some of the posts on this forum, just from today. They will help your resolve to quit. And see a good doctor,  if you can. Some of these folks may be able to help you find one, or a clinic in your area. You just have to want to quit, and don't be too afraid of doing so. Many on this forum have done so. You can too.

hi there.can i ask how old you are? First of all pot does not generally help with anxiety.as far as other drugs...i don't necessarily think that it matters for how long..withdrawals are withdrawals.some people can hardly handle quitting 3 pills a day while some go cold off 10.it all depends on the type of person you are and if you really want to quit..Your mental state of thinking that you need to take something is the main issue..i have smoked most of life and have done other drugs randomly..the pain killer addiction started before i had surgery on my shoulder. i was able to quit smoking...even cigs when i was pregnant.I have gone through w/ds many times..i am on 40 something days . it's my mind that wants the drugs...regardless of it being pills, alcohol, pot

14 years is a long time for someone so young. How much and what is it your are taking. Do you feel like **** everyday, tired unless medicated,up one day and bummed the next. Sick and tired of being sick and tired. Are you not doing the things in life you want to do and like to do. When you wake up in the morning do you feel edgy and restless. Are you avoiding social activities because you base everything you do around your pills. If so then you are ready and you are in the right place. There is alot of experienced people here that can give you alot of information on how to quit this terrible way of life. The part that worries me is that you have been doing this since you were 13 and I don't know if you know what feeling normal is.

yes...the amount you take and what you take have alot to do with quitting and what road to choose....but choosing to quit is a definite step in the right direction

Also, do you think you want to stop cold turkey or are you wanting to taper off gradually?

In the top right of the screen is the Health pages, check out the Thomas Recipe and Amino acid protocol....they are filled with valuable information.
