Hi there- If you can manage, it's great if you go to work...It will really keep you distracted as boredom is a trigger for you. You'll feel a little better everyday.
Be sure to get plenty of fluids and eat nutritious food.
Alteril is a good OTC sleep aid.
Taking magnesium is great so keep it up; it will help with RLS as well as sleep.
Maybe just a couple more questions...What were you taking and for how long? We might be able to help you more...Thanks!
I began with 30 roxis then went to a methadone maintence, did great for 2 years, came down and the WDs were nuts. So stupidly I decided to take 10mg percs, replacing one with another, but I've decided that's it I can't keep doing this!!!!
This current stretch for about a month
I'm on day 22. I was methadone for 8 years. I'm still suffering greatly. How are you making out after a month?
Once I started to WD, i couldn't stand those WD, so I went to 10mg perks, to be honest the methadone WD is worst then perk WD.
i always siad a little saying for everyday and day 2 i was feeling blue by day 6 i missed my fix although by day seven comparably speaking i felt in heavon!!!
NO WAY!!! I stayed home for 4 weeks! But mine was a little different (maybe), there's no way I would have allowed my customers to see me like that. I did have to go buy immodium on day 5 and when I went to the CVS I think the lady at the counter thought I was going to rob her. I totally didn't look at how I looked or how I was dressed, lol. I looked like a hoodlum!
I work at a big corporate center so I walk around if I'm busy doing something, I've been drinking lots of powerade and water not really Hungary, hoping I can sleep, anxiety cuz I've been through this before. My new motto taking it day by day
I had the weekend for the first two days. Then to work (one day work from home that first week). I was taking vicodin approx. 4-5/day. I found work to be a good distraction but had to take the Imodium and hide in my cubicle and play "virus" for a week. I have no experience with methadone. Best of luck to you!
Congratulations on your 2nd day, i hope it gets better for you : )
Day 3 this morning and it's soo hard to get up outta bed, slept ok with melatonin, keep pushing forward
Im day 10 5year oxy/vic detox...best day yet...actually smiled..paid some bills...that was :).
How was it getting sleep/getting outta bed?
I tried going to work during withdrawals.... The first two weeks was hell I made it to work but having the energy to stand up was the worst. I'm on day 29 and still having troubles sleeping. Those first few days really take everything out of you so pay attention to your body.. even if you can lay down for a few minutes and get some shut eye it's better than nothing. All in all your body will rest when it really needs it so try to not stress about it. I came off of a high dose off methadone cold tturkey jot sure if you're tapering or what... I've been told no two methadone withdrawals are the same.. for me my back was Killin me, had to take hot baths constantly... I tried melatonin for sleep, passion flower for the anxiety during the day (when I could sstomach taking a pill) neither worked for me. Now I'm trying a natural sleep aid that has laverian root in it.. tried it last night and I was still up at 3. I feel your pain! Keep pushing we will be through it before you know it.
First of all, Gratz on making the best possible decision for your life. It will pay you back dividends once you pay the up front cost of going through these w/d. Your life, will indeed, be much richer as long as you invest in yourself after and seek support and really use all of the real tools designed for your happiness in life. Community, proper nutrition, exercise, artistic expression, laughter, entertainment and so on...
Personally, if I was able, I would go to work because it keeps your mind occupied. Your'e going to feel like hell bc w/d blows, but if you can take your mind off of the pain and focus on other things, that helps tremendously. Making your entire life stop and be put on hold is not the best case scenario. You are already going to have anxiety, and just letting everything fall by the wayside is not going to make it easier to face life without using.
My vote is, as long as you aren't vomiting, or crapping in your pants, then go get the heck out of the place and make the time pass faster.
Day four, feeling better but I cannot stop yawning, and I have energy throughout the morning but as soon lunch hits I just crashed!!!!
yup, yawning, sneezing, stretching but with no relief, RLS, no sleep... isn't it the pits? The great great news is that this is just temporary and once you get past these two weeks coming up, each day will be sweeter and sweeter than you could have imagined, AS LONG AS you nurture and care for body, your mind, and your spirit as well as those around you.
Recovery is a process of tearing down the bad and building up good things around yourself so that you can take shelter, comfort, and support there. It takes work and investment. Don't sit idle and become empty and bored
Do right, because it feels right. Take care of your body with good food and exercise, take care of your spirit by participating in community and using artistic expression like reading, writing, art, and music. Invest in yourself and build up a beautiful, life affirming city around yourself and you will be more fulfilled than you could have imagined.
Last but not least, do not count yourself out of anything until you've tried. Never look to a successful person and say to yourself "they just have something I don't possess, and I can't do that" No, never do that, bc you have all of the tools that they have, and if you lack some resource, you can find a way around it to accomplish your goal in your own way.
Set personal goals, write out the steps, and one by one knock them down as you watch your self esteem, confidence, and happiness balloon into a gorgeous feeling of self worth and purpose for life.
Good luck friend you're doing amazing!
One more thing that I forgot to say, is that we all hate feeling ill, but embrace that feeling bc it is the only path to your own freedom. You should try telling yourself, that this is a good thing because your body is doing it's work and ridding it's self of the drugs that have snared you for so long. You have to use the right tools to remove that tether, so utilize things like n/a and this site, as well as all of the things you have learned here as tool to cut the bindings. Just remember that addiction is so insidious and it will always attempt to rope you back in, so you must stay on guard always.
Thanks soo much banmethadone part of my recovery is just visiting this site!!!!!
