My doc gave me lyrica along with using hylands restfull legs. It really worked for me. I would have to take the hylands at bed and again in middle of the nite. Walmart doesnt sell it tho however walgreens does. Also antidepressents makes rls worse so if you take those it will make it worse.
I agree with the how baths/w epsom salt, that helped during my 1st withdrawal ( i was in rehab for the last one so i was on meds). Here are some other things that helped me and some other addicts i know through it. Pressure on the legs like kim715 suggessted with the ace bandages, i didn't think of the ace bandages but I did have my husband lay on my legs for pressure. Also muscle tension excersizes, tense up your feet, hold for 30 seconds, relax, then ankles sane thing, calves, knees, ect. Jumping for a couple minutes, a few times a day like while watching tv really helped, it made my legs tired when I went to bed so it helped me sleep, one person suggested a trampoline but i don't have one. Motrin during the day and tylonol pm at night also helped. Here's a home remedies site i found for rls http://www.myhomeremedies.com/topic.cgi?topicid=319 hope this helps! Also if you can see a dr, talk to them about wellbutrin and catapress, these meds can also help. Good luck, this DOES go away.
MOVING helps rls...but when u want to sleep/u dont wanna have to move involuntarily all over the place...caused by lack of dopamine as u have taken ur extra source away...and ur brain has not adjusted yet to produce what u need..but it will
Treating the symptoms is all u can do right now..but do know it will pass when ur brain kicks in...exercise makes ur brain kick in....daily fast walks..or daily anything will help...gym workouts rock cos they also make u get out of the house
There is an article in the health pages on rls....potassium (bananas etc), iron, many believe in tonic water as well..direct therapy such as heat/hot baths, massage even if u do it urself with a massager, compreesion with ace wraps or compressin hose...even ice as ice is a deep form of heat..can help...there r otc meds for this and also rx drugs for this symptom..many find relief with muscle relaxers...can u talk to ur dr bout this?
sleep is important to recovery...without sleep we can become weak...recovery and cleandom r important to u or u would not be enduring this...and kudos sent ur way for this huge effort u r making! Cover all ur bases..put the ball in ur court....be sure u have a plan for things that make u feel weak....
keep posting
Hang in there man. The hot baths worked wonders for me too.You can and will do this.Keep posting it helps Congrats on your recovery.

Hot Hot baths,as hot as you can stand them...Exercise works wonders..Bananas for the potassium....The RLS was the worst part for me....Heres what I did at night so I could get some rest......Soaked in a hot bath with epsoms salts, got out and rubbed my legs down with a mentholated muscle rub, wrapped them tight, but not too tight, with ace bandages, and then wrapped a heating pad around each of them.May sound strange, but it helped me immensely. They also sell something at Walmart called Hylands Restful Legs that many people use.Good luck to you...Kim
