help with addiction to hydrocodone

I've been taking hydrocodone for a back injury and bilateral carpal tunnel. Now I find myself taking it to feel better and to ward off withdrawal symtpoms, regardless if im in pain or not. I am seeing two doctors to get scripts for hydrocodone. One I got 50 norco 10/325 and went through that in 5 days and then i got 40 5/325 norco's and went through that in 2 days. It takes 5 maximum strength norco's for me to get a mild buzz for about 1-2 hours, thats when i started potentiating it with soma i ordered online. I went through those fast. Now its a friday night, I have no refills no connections or any possible way to get this substance. I took my last two ultrams to sleep last night to ward off withdrawal. *This has been going on and off for a year* I was once taking 20 mg of hydromorphone for a month straight on and off for about a few months and each time I've ended up quitting for 7-10 days then find myself bored and wanting to get OPIATED AGAIN. My eyes are watering, i feel weak, my stomach is in knots, and i psychologically crave the drug. The disease has evolved and progressed but I am so ******* sick of wasting my money and half paychecks to not go into withdrawal and just adding to my addiction and tolerance... I'm so ****** right now and I dont knowwhat I can do anymore. I just want tto die.

Many of us have been where you are.  I had to stop virtually cold turkey from 15 hydros a day. Really there were probably a few days I took more.  I hate to admit it.

I chose NOT to keep looking for them.  And I can say, on day 22 of quitting, that I am THANKFUL for the horrible withdrawals I went through.

I wish I could paint a pretty picture for you, but the reality is that it will probably be very hard for several days.  But if you really want to be free, they will likely be what keeps you strong in the future.  That is what I  hope for you , and me.

There is NOTHING easy about quitting at this level.  And if your supply is out, then you need to mentally prepare yourself for a fight you CAN win. There are already several good posts from people who know what is up.

You can do it.  Just DO it.  Easy to say, but I did, so I CAN say it!!!!

Good luck and I wish you the best, whatever you choose.

It would not be wise to get another refill on monday.  By then the worst part will be over.  You are going through normal withdrawl.  The abd cramps and pain are normal.  Expect explosive diarrhea.  Get some immodium and take it as much as you need to it will help with the runs and the cramping.  Try to get some clonidine, it is a blood pressure medication but helps tremendously for w/d.  It helps me with the anxiety, aching, racing heart, abd cramps, chills... It makes them tolerable.  I still am not able to get out and do anything for about 4-5 days then my energy starts to return.  But, youre already on the right path, why turn back now.  I know how it is to allow these little f'ing pills control your entire life.  You have the chance now to get it back.  If you don't, the monster gets bigger and bigger and soon you'll need 10 norco at a time to get the same effect (that's where I'm at right now).  Keep us posted. We are all here for you and you can do this!

are abdominal cramps/pain normal? anyways i just stained the deck for an hour which seemed like an eternity... its been 31 hrs but it isn't as bad as i thought. although i am pretty miserable and walking takes forever... i had milk thistle vitamin b stress complex, calcium and magnesiate and a protein shake with like 27 vitamins and minerals, i wonder if thats one of the reasons.

Hi there...is there any way you can take the night and a few days off?? You may want to try and get out and get some of those meds....there is no quick fix for detox. It took you years to do this to your body and it won't repeair in days.... (not trying to sound harsh) I too was/am addicted to hydrocodone....I tapered from them... been off them almost 6wks.... What you need to make sure of is do YOU WANT TO QUIT FOR GOOD? or is this until you get your next refill? Not meaning to sound harsh at all..... typed words can come out differently is why I say that....trust me I have been in  your shows MANY times!

Listen to theeagles advice, I am following the Thomas recipe and am taking all the amino acids that it calls for. Try to get your hands on some clonidine--I have mentioned this in many posts but it REALLY helps

I was in your position 2 years ago - I even planned vacations around refills and stashes...you are so right - it will progress until it kills you. Its a monster of a beast. Good news is that after a flu like period from 4-8 days you will be past the real uglies and on your way back to the life you want to lead. Don't get me wrong - after withdrawal it still isnt a picnic....but it keeps getting better and better..........

Check out the lower right of page - obtain the ingredients for the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol - and read up really well on everything.....knowledge is power...keep posting for support and information.....good luck
