thank you for avice.  I am scared of the methadone.  I have heard other bad things about it.  I only have two more 10mg pills left.  Then I will be on my own.   I just wanted to use them to get though the first 4 days.  But they are only lasting for three days.  I don't think the two will cover me for the hole day.  I have a apointment at my pain clinc friday, if they will see me at all since I did not come in for a pill count.  If they will see me I will tell them that I have not been doing them right.  I wanted to tell them when I was first seen that I had to get med. for myself for a while untill I was dienose with fms, then sent to them.  That way they would have know what mgs and pillls I had been taking.  But I was afaird they would not see me if I did.  It takes a while to find out what is wrong sometimes, it tuck three years.  So no one would give me nothing long term until I had proof.  And it is not easy to show fms.  I was just hoping I could  cut back to what they put me on.  But it was not that easy.  So when I was called in , I did not go because I had taken all my pills to early.  I realy have a reason to take med.  Plus was happy to be in a pain mangement program.   But it was what I has to do before that which mess me up.   I just could not lay in bed.  I had to take care of my family.   But  after 5 years I got tried of the med. all the time.Plus when the clinc was not enough.   I need to not to take so much med. It can't be good for you. Without it I don't get things done.I am just going to keep on going anyway. Thank you again

hello. i've also been on the methadone trip and agree that any amount of any narcotic used to change the way i feel emotionally will ultimately take me back to full blown active addiction (i was taking several hundred mg oxycontin/day).  the only thing that methadone did for me was to prolong the misery. if you have a genuine pain management condition, you need to consult with competent medical professionals (preferably that are pm specialists), and be honest with them and yourself. if you have a history of addictive tendencies, you can still get relief from medication but you will have to be honest. additionally, there are doctors who will help you taper off gradually to minimize the discomfort of withdrawal if you have decided to quit completely. either way, there is hope and you can get through it. i don't know if you are a person of faith, but i know prayer is a powerful tool and it doesn't hurt to ask for help. take care--gm

I ended up getting back on pills (hydrocodone) to get off the Methadone.  And I had got on Methadone to get off the pills.  So it was pointless for me to ever get on Methadone.  If someone wants to quit Methadone, they will more than likely need another drug to come off that.  And then another drug to come off that one.  Vicious circle!  I think being on Methadone is being at the bottom of the barrell.  It's dangerous!  An Oxy addict might need Methadone I don't know, but I would say it's a mistake.

If you have just recently got on Methadone, your body is going to have to make an adjustment to get use to the Methadone, since you where taking a different opiate.  (that shift your body is making can be unpleasant.)  Methadone is about the hardest drug in the world to quit and has some of the very worst and longest withdrawal symptoms, I don't know if you are aware of that.  I went from popping 25-40 norco's a day to methadone and thought it was the very worst thing I could have done to get clean.  If one takes Methadone for about a year, like 50mg a day or more, it could be very likely they will turn into a Lifer.  A Lifer is someone who has to take methadone every day for the rest of thier life.  Most who get on Methadone will find it very very very hard to quit doing it.  It's ten times easier to just come off pills.  But that is only my opinion.  I have no experience with any kind of oxy's.  I took a half of one once a long time ago.  (almost no experience).  I would consider other options like weaker pills if I where you, before you get too deep into Methadone.  And on Methadone you will have a ZERO sex drive.  I spent 30 days on Methadone and was lucky enough to quit and never go back.  Methadone was invented by the Nazis during WWII under Hitler's power.  It is an evil drug.  I've met people taking methadone every day for over 25 years.  Don't get me wrong, it may be the best thing for you, I just thought I'd tell you about my experience and thoughts on the drug.  Taper down off pills (oxy's) - then go to a weaker pill (Norco/Hydrocodone) - then try to taper down off that.  It would be better than Methadone.  Methadone is jumping out of the frying pan and into the FIRE!

You CAN do this, the best advice is take it one day at a time. I have been clean now over 100 days from darv. If you can get your family on board w/ you that helps so much. Like a suport system. The first week is usually the worst for most. Make sure to keep reading on this forum, the people here are awesome and really know what they are talking about.
I am lifting you and your family up to Jesus along w/ this.
Stay Strong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never taken oxys.  I had a lortab addiction and I have been clean for 22 days.  I feel so much better than I did at first.  My body is still healing though and i am still adjusting mentally.
I don't think it will take you a year to feel better!  I find it alot easier to focus on one day at a time or in some cases one hour.
Try to only look at the big picture as far as each day, (or each hour) that you are clean you are getting closer to getting your life back!!
Take care and post often.  It really does help!
