Well, you are seeing why we say, "addiction is an I thing, recovery is a we thing." I am still learning about why that is true. Kicking drugs can be fun and exciting. You wiki make new friends, create new habits and hobbies. Once you get through the sick, that lasts a short time really. Time slows down in detox, there is a sense of urgency and drugs have what made it go away for a long time. You can do this, I had a detox from hell, seriously intense for months, and today I will tell you, life is a million times more rewarding. Just hang in there, you won't lose anything and you gain unmeasurable rewards. Keep your eyes on the prize, you are stronger than you think. Veterans will tell ya, you don't really know until you been there. We'll et you up out of the trenches.

Thank you. It's hard not to anticipate how bad it will be. Truth is, I've never made it past the third day in the last 5 years before I caved in. I'm surprised at how comforting it is to to read posts and responses from others.

I second what Weaver said.  Wd peaks between days 3 and 5, then gets better slowly so during the second week you will start feeling better. Don't worry about it, just do it!  You will be so glad to be free!

I wanted to encourage you to stick with one post per day, it helps everyone follow your story. No biggie, just trying to help. One to two weeks is pretty standard for physical withdrawals of fast acting opiates, like percs. It depends on so many factors there is no way to say for sure. Metabolism, age, years of use, general health, etc...all influence our detox and recovery, but it is a small amount of time when you consider you get the rest of your life back. Try not to anticipate what will happen, just make the most out of each day. Post a lot, go to a 12 step meeting, talk to sober friends, a pastor, guru, family, anyone to create accountability and support. You can do it, no matter what it takes or how bad it is, it will be a million times worth it.
