celebrate recovery and overcomers outreach are christian based support groups like na/aa. they confess JESUS as their higher power.
church and the LORD is my husbands only aftercare, besides exercising and eating healthy. you can also counsel with the pastor.
congratulations on your clean time. keep up the good work.
one day at a time. keep on fighting the good fight. keep on keepin on.
continued blessings to you

Hi,
Thanks for posting!! There is another 12 step program out there called Celebrate Recovery. website: www.celebraterecovery.com You can click on find a meeting, it will then tell you to click on state/then city. These meetings are for people with Hurts/habits/Hang-ups. . . . .so Basically Anyone can come. They follow the 12 steps and have actual scripture backing them up. if you are Spiritual. . . . they will help. I know they helped me.
"And God COULD AND WOULD if he were sought"

Hi there---of course, church is a great form of aftercare---it just doesn't need to be the only one. You could really use professional counseling or NA/AA meetings in addition to church. (Most churches don't have the specialized classes that addicts need.) Plus that'll get you out of the house more! I take it that you are newly clean---if so, you're over the first hurdle, but this is a marathon, my dear. You need every weapon in your clean arsenal that you can get. I'd at least try counseling/meetings in addition to church.

Most of the time aftercare is a a place you go to for addiction counseling like hospitals or rehab centers with drug counselers on hand to listen to you.  A lot of recovering drug addicts that try church say they dont get what they need in church. And some are right they need to be with other addicts who go to meetings to talk about there troubles.  One addict can best understand another.  What ever works for you if its church then do it.  Hang in there.

i wouldnt say just "going to church in itself" is aftercare but if u r a believer and u r really getting something out of going than YES for sure my church has been a lifeline for me and they have a program called celebrate recovery u should check around most churches have something along the lines. To me i dont like aa/na so i chose to use my church because that is where my faith is in God if that is ur case then i encourage that u use the church there r great supportive people there that can pray for u and prayer is POWERFUL... blessings to u and i hope u find a church if u dont have one laready that makes u feel very welcome God is bigger than ANY "group"
