How do I weene off 10/325 hydro?

Help please!  I had my hip replaced back the end of Jan 2010 I want to get off the hydro 10/325. I take about 20 a day!  How do I weene myself I cant afford rehab I have no job right now

Hello and welcome to the forum.  How long have you been taking the hydros?  Only since Jan?  If so have you thought about cold turkey?  You may want to try cold turkey if you do not have any other medical issues.  It is just like having a bad flu for a few days.  You can also speak with your doctor and he can give you something for the with drawl, so that it wont be so so so bad.  As far as a taper schedule maybe try cutting your pills in half.  Like instead of taking a whole pill, maybe cut it in half?  I did not ever have any luck with the taper thing,  That would mean I would have to be in control of something that I have no control of.  For some reason my mind would always tell me it was ok to take ten at one time.  Tapering is just not for me but there are some people on this site that have done it and been very successfull.  What ever you want to do we will be here for you.

Goof Morning Amy and welcome to the forum.. I just read your intro and I'm very sorry for the things you have been through and are going through..  Life feels different when we are clean and we are better able to put things in perspective.. I was taking 25 to 30 norcos a day coupled with soma when I quit.. it is doable.. I used Hylands restful leg with Valerian root as it is inexpensive and over the counter.. many hot showers and or baths.. The pain I experience has lessened now that I'm off the pain meds.. taking this high amount make us feel more pain as a way of tricking the brain into taking more.. a taper is possible but you would need your husband involved our one of your children as for most addicts doling them out to ourselves is not very successful our we would not be taking so many a day.. what ever you decide to do we will be here to support you.. lesa
