i used to be hooked on that stuff to for a little bit a while back.. to be honest there is no real best easy way to get off that stuff, you have to just stop and it will be extremely difficult if you try to do it yourself (Especially since it hasn't been working for you even now). obviously you are at the point where you cannot control it anymore because you already have experienced withdrawl symptoms just because you didnt use it for 4 days... not good. you just have to accept the fact that you WILL get the urge but you have to remind yourself that if you do continue the way you are now, its going to be a downward spiral. withdrawl only happens for about 4-7 days, so it is do-able. when i was having my problems, i lost almost all my friends and a boyfriend i cared deeply about all because i was having these mood swings, and i would help te pain by taking another pill. i am so happy that i was able to beat it and i am doing better then ever. so i hope you dont get to the point that i did, because you will be so regretful of everything you have lost.

so i suggest getting a best friend (whose clean), or a girlfriend, or a family member you can trust to help you encourage yourself and remind you that nothing is worth taking medication like that- just for recreational use.. its stupid.
wish you the best of luck- email me if you want ***@****

hi my name is jeff. i am now 32 years old. i severely injured my back when i was 21, just shortly after i graduated from wyoming technical institute. at first my chiropractor told me that i had just pulled some muscles in my back. thats what he told me and i guess thats what i wanted to beleive. long story short i was a very accomplish professional mechanic and inevitably the pain continued to increase to the point of getting out of bed in the morning became an overwhelming task. this eventually led to several surgeries including  a final L4/S1 fusion. after about 6 months post surgery the intense pain of my fusion surgery subsided but the horrible unimaginable pain persisted. ive always had a hardcore work ethic and being "stuck" at home unable to work became extremely depressing so i put my profession on the sidelines and started work as a fire safety inspector, fire equipment service tech as well as a fire safety instructor and performed "live" fire training for technique/evacuation procedures. i was able to hold down this job for 2 years but my pain continued to regress to a point where i was no longer able to perform the expectations for this job which was far less labor intensive. by this point i had been taking oxycontin 20 mg 3x daily and percocet 7,5 mg 3x daily. through all of this it compromised my 8 year relationship with my girlfriend and fiance at the time. we started going to counceling in an effort to save the relationship and the councelor had blamed my use of oxycontin. so in response to this i decided it was in my best interest to quit oxycontin. i quit cold turkey and without any assistance or professional help. i can tell you for sure that the longer you take the drug the harder it will become to ultimately quit. i can tell you that i am not a soft person and the ill effects that i suffered from quiting oxy are straight up inhumane and takes your mind, body and spirit to an evil place that you would never imagine to be possible. i quit oxy over a 72 hour time period and made sharp cuts in those 3 days. it was honestly the hardest thing i have ever experienced and my advise to you is first if you do not have a chronic pain situation you do not want anything to do with this drug. its a different kind  of animal and sinks its hooks in you hard and deep, i actually had quit for 9 months and had no choice but to revert back to the oxycontin because my back pain was just too intense to have any quality of life without it. and i soon found out that the use of oxycontin wasnt the cause of my relationship problems with my fiance. she left me 4 months after i had quit the drug. my advise to you is..... if you dont feel you have the will power to quit the way that i did, i would recomment weening yourself down with percocet. percocet bonds to the same receptor sites as oxycontin and will take the edge off just enough to avoid getting really sick and minimize your discomfort of the bone aching pain, anxiety, and kick that you get from the oxycontin withdrawl. not to mention a much longer list of hell on earth symptoms that are associated with quitting oxy. i hope that i was able to provide you with some valuable information as well as give you a little hope, inspiration and advice. i wish you the best and hope you can find the strength from within yourself to conquer this demon. i will prey for you. best regards, jeff mccurtain. if you feel like you need to talk with someone that knows exactly what you are experiencing or need further advice or just someone to talk to you can contact me at my email. ***@**** or conctact me by phone, my cell # is 307-389-6355. dont hesitate to call or feel awkward about it. everyone can use a friend for help. god bless and best of wishes for your success
