Hey there - I agree with minn.  I don't have experience with dilaudid either but I'm sure someone who knows will be along.  Just wanted to throw you some support.

Let me ask you - if you are just recovering from back surgery is it realistic to detox off meds right now?  Are you really abusing them, have you discussed with your doctor?  What is your alternate pain plan - have you even thought of that.

What is leading you to decide to stop?  I think a little more information here might help us be able to answer your questions better.   I don't know how dangerous or how high your dilaudid dosage is, I know some drugs can be very dangerous to detox yourself of of.  Typically the really bad w/d last 3-5 days as minn said and then the mental part of it really kicks in.

I encourage you to reach out for support.

I just wanted to say hi and welcome you. I don't know about dilautid per se but usually from what I understand withdrawal on average lasts at its worst about 5 days. Body weight, what you were taking and how long all contribute. Make sure you stock up on Immodium, Gatorade, Vitamin Water, or Powerade to replenish nutrients. Vitamins and supplements listed in the Thomas recipe, a heating pad, light foods such as soup and crackers, broth, and fruit, especially grapes. Others who know more will check in. Glad you found us. We'll help you through. For me, posting here helped me so much. I hope you stick around :)
