Hi Katie; Welcome to the forum - This is a great place for support and encouragement when and if you decide to get off of the Opiates. You will find many opinions and advice on how to go about it. The poster above suggests you try Suboxone --- It is a 'substitute' drug that many (if not most) of the people who have used it say they would never use or recommend. I suggest you check out The Health Pages and go to page two - to a post of testimonials of those who tell of their own experience with Suboxone. I was also on a similar dose of Oxy and used Sub to come off of it. The only problem was the W/D from Sub was about ten times worse than just tapering and coming off of Oxy. It took two months before I quit having W/D's and I was only on Sub for 21 days at a fairly low dose. It would be good to hear back from Bigj3 after they try to stop taking it. Some stay on it for years because they cannot bear the W/D from it. Next to Methadone, it is probably the most difficult drug to quit. Now, the good news is that Hydrocodone is not as strong as Oxy and for the relatively short time you have been on it, quitting may not be as tough as you imagine. Of course there is no painless way to quit Opiates (as some have yet to find out) but it is doable and many have succeeded. Please keep posting and take advantage of all of this site. All the best.
Suboxone definitely takes away the pain from withdrawal. When I withdraw cold turkey I feel like hell for3 or 4 days and just yucky for about a week. I don't plan to stay on the suboxone long. It is also expensive!
