percocet

i have been taking percocet 15mg for about 3 years and there are many times when i wished i didnt have to take this. Its not neccesarily effecting my way of living but im worried about how long i need to be on this. I have terrible back issues and these are the only meds that allow me to go about my day. when someone is on pain meds for that long is it possible to just detox or am i possibly looking at suboxin because i do look forward to the day that im 100% clean free and clear all the way. i dont want this crap in my body anymore and sometimes it gets a bit overwelming for me because im a health nut and try to take good good good care of my body.

I tapered and it helped big time.  You need supports in place to keep you accountable and its absolutley doable.

do u take 15 mgs a day?  what is ur dose?

sub is not the answer for all..for some it is to keep them off the street and safe//high quantity users or strong DOCs...percs are not in this category unless u r using 20 of these 15 mg percs each day...sub is so much stronger than hydros or percs...a 100 mg hydro user can cop a buzz off 2 mgs of sub..be sure to educate urself before u panic and jump into deep doo doo

First off...you don't need suboxone. The WD's from that are worse. Remember this: opiates actually change your perception of pain. Even if you are not an addict, you are physically dependent at this point. After 5-10 days of steady use you can get dependent. The term dependent is not the same as addict. Why don't you try tapering down so you have minimal WD's...then you can try a couple of months without the pain meds. This way you can truly evaluate your level of pain. Without the haze of opiates. Sometimes pain isn't a bad thing-it lets you know that you need to be aware of what you are doing. Like I said-the opiates will make your pain threshold much lower. You perceive pain differently and at a lower level.
If you are only dependent and not addicted why not give it a shot for a couple of months.
What do you say?
I've got a really bad back but I am an addict and have to live my life without any opiates. I realize I am not able to use them in a reasonable fashion. Also, without them my pain has actually decreased because my perception of it is way different than when I was on the pills.
