relapse?

Hey everyone!!!! I have a question. Im having major surgery on nov 21st and i expressed my concerns to my oncologist and he said there is absolutely no possible way for me to avoid narcotics for at least 4-6 weeks after surgery. :( is this considered a relapse? I honestly dont want them but i kno the pain will b too much to handle. I already have a plan in place to where my husband is going to hold and dispense my meds as needed. When he goes to work he will figure something out for me. I want to make sure this isnt considered a relapse.... i veryyyy worried abt the surgery i dont want to worry about the meds. Pls help me!!! Thank u guys u r the best!!!!!

This is in NO WAY a relapse.  Pain meds are for pain and that is what you will be using them for.  You have a great plan in place.  Now put this to rest as you need your strength to get better~

Best wishes, Maria! Vicki is absolutely right! No relapse if there is no abuse! Life happens! There will be times, in many of our lives when pain medication is necessary! Trust me, if I ever need to have dental surgery, forget about it! You have a great plan! Take care and I hope all goes well!

Thank god!!!! I was soo nervous! My husband said he would leave what i need but hide it.. i think tht may b excessive but whatever he needs to do to feel comfortable.  My dr said i shouldnt need them after about 6 weeks longest. He first said id b on fetnyol patches and i told him i didnt want tht unless the pain was excruciating.  The recovery time is about 12 weeks :(

Don't worry about this one more second! It's NOT a relapse and having your husband hold the pain meds is exactly what you should do.

When he leaves for work, he should leave what you need for the time he's gone. Maybe 4 pills depending on how the doctor writes for them...

Did the doctor say you would need the pain meds for 4-6 weeks? Or is that the recovery time?
